Today is Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day. . ...and a few weeks ago I did a three-part live video series on the topic, as I REALLY opened up to my audience about my traumatizing experience. (It’s on my FB business page, link in my bio) . Well it’s really more like experience(s), plural. . Most people think that being a narcissist is if your “self-absorbed” like Kim Kardashian or if your power hungry like Donald Trump. . But the truth is, pathological narcissism is so much more covert and is a disease and mental illness that is an epidemic in our society. . At 33, I still do feel some shame knowing I’ve had a romantic relationship with 2 malignant narcissists that tried to destroy my life. . Then add to that all the toxic friends, toxic work environments, plus having toxic parents, and you have a recipe for disaster. . Now that I’m on the other side of narcissistic abuse, all I can do is give all the glory to God for bringing me out of the darkness and into the light. . I thank God for making me such an empathetic and loving soul that only wants to spread love and light in this world. . But don’t get it twisted. I am working on keeping BOUNDARIES like a muthafuc*er. . And although I can’t save everybody, except for myself, my wish is that for those who have suffered this insidious type of abuse, to forgive yourself for not knowing your worth. . Forgive your parents for showing you conditional love and making you feel like you were never enough. . Forgive past friends who were and might still be unconscious and hated on you because they didn’t feel secure within themselves. . Forgive your past romantic partners who only knew how to inflict pain because they themselves are in pain. . But as I said before, the most important part is to FORGIVE YOURSELF. . On June 1, I posted in regards to #worldnarcissisticabuseawarenessday. This is the 3rd year I have done this. It’s important to me to be an advocate. I went through a very bad experience in my life, with my ex, and felt the need to help others. It’s not something I would wish on anyone. So if I can put information out there that can help someone get out of a relationship with a #narcissist or an #abuser, then I’ve done my job. Even if it helps just one person. But it’s actually helped many more than one. This month, I watched as this one post climbed to ✨200✨ likes. 200 may not sound like much but the last 2 years I did this, only about 18-25 people liked them. It’s not something to “like” but this shows me that people are looking and searching and needing help and information. It’s becoming more widespread and the awareness is helping people. It’s sad that so many people are affected by this but we have to keep talking about it. The more people armed with facts and knowledge, the faster people can get out of these awful situations. Or help their friends get out or not get in one to begin with. A relationship with a #narcissist can destroy your soul and well being. So...I guess I’ll keep posting about this since it’s clear we need to keep talking and educating and inspiring others.
