Hello everyone! My name is Jeremiah, I'm a photographer based in Boise Idaho USA. I love to make landscape and deep space astrophotos. Most of the deepspace images in my gallery were taken from my driveway in Boise!! I use an array of gear but most of it is based around one of my Sony body/ lens combos and my trusty ASI1600 cooled mono camera paired with an 80mm Stellarvue telescope. The Rosette Nebula is a large spherical Hydrogen alpha region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter. The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of some 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The radiation from the young stars excites the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves producing the emission nebula we see. Boy howdy, this one is a doozie. Here is the Rosette in all of its narrowband glory. The first image includes all three filters (hydrogen alpha, oxygen iii, sulphur ii) assigned to the RGB channels in the tradition of the Hubble (Hubble palette). Completely false color but distinguishes gases nicely. The second is in bicolor - just hydrogen and oxygen since it’s very strong in both of those (HOO). A bit less depth and detail but truer to actual color (Ha-red, Oiii-blue/green) I’ve also included each of the stacked mono images for each filter (h-alpha, Oiii, Sii respectively). Sii is by far the weakest, as in most things, and could use another hour or so. All in all this is 7 hours 20 min. The Rosette Nebula by #laas member, Mirko Maher @darkskyexplorer. Mirko was recently featured on @universetoday's IG page. "The Rosette Nebula through some additional processing to boost levels and contrast (a couple of versions to swipe through). My approach on this was to go as light as I can on processing. I find its easy to run away with it and probably did it anyway. The Rosette is a great target for "non-darksky" astrophotograpy with Narrowband filters. To shoot this in urban polluted areas you need narrowband filters. I'm using two, a baader 7nm Ha and 8nm Oiii.

@j.sorrellsphoto again. This is my third image for my takeover of the @universetoday Instagram page! This is a bracketed shot of The Orion Nebula done in Hydrogen Alpha only. I took 40 images at 60 seconds each half at unity gain half at 76 I took 34 images at 120 seconds each half at unity gain and half at 76. It hard to believe that this is basically a stellar nursery where new stars are being born from clouds of dust and gas, there's over 700 stars just in this nebula in various parts of formation! On the plan of the sky, it is located near the star Eta Geminorum. Its distance is roughly 5,000 light years from Earth.

@dso.m42 here again sharing my last post of the day which is my 11th attempt at imaging M42 – The Orion Nebula. It is one of the most photographed objects in the night sky due to its size and magnitude making it an excellent target for amateur astrophotographers. Located within our own Milky Way Galaxy at a distance of over 1,300 light years and width of 24ly, our moon still appears ~20% smaller from our perspective on Earth. — At the center of M42 a white luminous core known as the Trapezium functions as a stellar nursery where new stars are formed within the chaotic mix of dense colliding gases and high temperatures. Once formed, the stars within the nebula emit a stream of charged particles known as a stellar wind that forces the surrounding nebula to expand.
