Note to self: Don’t wear all white if you plan to sit in the mud for the sake of a photograph ‍♀️⁣⠀ ::::::⁣⠀ But seriously let’s do a bit of Instagram vs. reality for this picture and a bit of advice for anyone looking to visit this castle. Before I went to Neuschwanstein I saw plenty of photos of people at this spot, so of course I sought it out when I visited since it's one of the only spots you get an aerial vantage of the castle. ⁣⠀ ::::::⁣⠀ When we arrived, we discovered this is not on the normal walking trail and in fact the entire walkway up was closed. We saw a tour guide direct a couple of visitors to hop under a barrier at the foot of the castle. We followed them and sure enough, this took us uphill to where we could get a better view of the castle. But still not this spot. We could see people up here, but could only find a route by going under a barbed wire fence and scrambling up a hill to reach this cliff edge.⁣⠀ The view was of course spectacular, but I toyed with sharing this picture since it encourages people to do the same thing. But decided to share it so I can give you some tips in case you are determined to be a rule breaker and go here too. ⁣⠀ * Wait until other people have left, if you are the only one here it feels safe, but with a few people crowded here taking pictures it really doesn't⁣!⁣⠀ * Stay far back from the ledge (where I am sat is actually at the side away from anyone else and in a dip so its not right on the edge⁣⠀ * Don't wear a dress, seriously this is a mini scramble up a hill and should be done in appropriate (not all white!) clothes and shoes⁣!⁣⠀ * Be careful and think about whether it's worth it - the view is spectacular and there really wasn't another vantage point like this, but the castle is still beautiful viewed from other areas. ⁣⠀ Any other tips for visiting the castle - please share in the comments!⁣⠀ by @flystayluxe ⁣⠀ #wearetravelgirls #travelgirls #Neuschwanstein #Neuschwansteincastle #germany #fairytalecastles #castlesofgermany # #castle #bavaria
