@ontarioparks - Here in Ontario, the #NiagaraEscarpment runs from Niagara Falls along Lake Ontario through the Niagara Peninsula, then takes a sharp left turn at the town of Milton before continuing toward Georgian Bay. This strip’s natural and ecological elements are so special that it was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1990! The forests, wetlands, cliffs and meadows of the Escarpment support over 300 species of bird, 52 mammals, 100 types of fish and 30 reptiles & amphibians. Holy biodiversity, Batman! #ontarioforyou

The Bruce peninsula is as interesting for its geology as it is for its botany. The major feature up there is the Niagara Escarpment, a long cuesta that runs from eastern New York across the Great Lakes into Wisconsin/Illinois. It essentially forms the backbone of the Bruce peninsula itself. This formation overall gives rise to some impressive cliffs, bluffs, and waterfalls with the famed Niagara Falls being the most well known. In terms of the Bruce, Inglis Falls outside Owen Sound is the best waterfall worth your visit. It has an almost tropical look and feel to it, at least to me. It’s a gold mine for fern diversity and home to some regional rarities and disjuncts down in its limestone gorge.
