My little Emery girl! Emery has always held a special place in my heart. She is my youngest and was the smallest, between her and Addison. She’s the one that suffers from reflux and a lot of gas issues. She’s not as go with the flow as her sister and doesn’t seem to get as much attention from people when we are out in public. Addison has all of that crazy hair (which I do love ) and is constantly smiling. But when I do get a big smile from Emery, I treasure it! She’s our little fighter - she wasn’t ready to be here at 33 weeks. She was still enclosed in her sack when they opened me up. Addison broke her water and made Emery enter this world on March 30th! I can’t wait to see how this story plays out as the girls get older! Addison will be the troublemaker trying to get Emery to do everything with her! Emery’s world was shocked when those bright lights woke her up. She was in shock for a little bit but like I said, came out fighting. At our last appointment, Emery was just a few oz shy of Addison in weight and they go to the doctor next week so I’ll be curious to see if she’s surpassed Addison. When they were born, there was a 10oz difference between the two. Sometimes we whisper like we’re telling secrets . At the end of this video, you can see that Lily is speaking but not making any noise. Sometimes, depending on the position of her trach, she can’t get any air up to her vocal chords. As her lungs grow stronger it will be easier for her to push air and talk, but for now we’re working on managing the frustration that comes with inability to consistently communicate. This little monster is down for the count again. Her trach stoma is colonized with MSSA (methicillin-susceptible staphylococcus aureus) and is prone to flare ups during times of stress. She’s been popping teeth like a mad woman, which has allowed the MSSA to invade again. This is something that most trach kiddos experience- colonization of a super bug is very common and very annoying. She’s needing more oxygen, working harder to breathe, and relatively lethargic. We’re working hard to avoid hospitalization, so for the next several days you can find us in quarantine, glued to the couch, in our @dockatot throne, watching Netflix ✌ . In all seriousness, this weekend was supposed to be Lil’s birthday/thank you party for our NICU staff. I’m SO behind sharing Addison and Emery’s 3 month old picture! ‍♀️ But I guess that’s the story of my life now that I have 3 kids! ‍♀️ They have changed so much in the past month! Both girls FINALLY started smiling (around 11 weeks) and the wait was worth it! They both have rolled over from front to back and Addison has gotten close to rolling from back to front already!
