One year ago today I received the most devastating news I’ve ever had. When I heard the doctor say, “it’s not good”, I felt like I was hearing someone else’s news. This couldn’t be me, could it? He’s joking.. but the next few words wrecked me. “You have breast cancer”. I cried a lot, asked why me more times than I can count and I cried some more... But I wasn’t going to let it win. Here I am 365 days later and I beat cancer! Multiple scans, ultrasounds, MRIs, 4 rounds of chemo, too many blood draws to count and two surgeries later.. IM ALIVE. I still have my bad days and that’s ok. There’s a bit of an expectation when you survive something like this.. people always say, “aren’t you happy? You beat it”... but as with any traumatic event, it does leave a scar. (Literally across both sides of my chest and both ribs) and it can be rough. With that being said, I have the BEST support team I could ask for that allow me to have bad days and remind me they love me. That’s all I could ever ask for. So here’s to you, sweet husband of mine, friends and family. Thank you for helping me live the most normal I could this past year. The Lion King turns 25 today and I’m pretty emotional about it. We’re still celebrating 6/26 over here! We grabbed this one day only Experiment 626 cone and cup from the Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Resort earlier today and quickly ran inside before they melted. Clearly you can see it didn’t work, they became puddles almost instantaneously! This was vanilla flavored ice cream just simply colored with blue.
