I’m blessed beyond measure to have such a loving family. Truly, I never thought my family would come together as we have - we’ve faced challenge after challenge which would tear most families apart ...for good. But God is gracious, and I truly believe through prayer and faith, He is the only one who could have ever turned tragedy into restoration and rejoicing.

April 14th also became a day of sadness 16 years ago, when I lost one of my closest friends to cancer on my 16th birthday. I swore off birthdays and all celebration for more than a decade. I couldn’t even comprehend it. That, along with other family hardships, I thought my birthday was a bad omen. Depression would set in hard, each Spring season.
•
But once again, it was only the love of God himself that could fill every broken and torn down part of me. Only God could have healed such painful wounds ...just as he promises he will.

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
Psalms 147:3 NLT

You see, we only need to have a little bit of faith in asking Him to come in and help, for Him to begin working in us, immediately. I didn’t ask for many years.

There is hope.

Now, I celebrate my birthday. I don’t mask that I still miss my Jordan SO much, but I realize that I’m the luckiest girl in the world to share my day with him - I believe his love and laughter for everyone who was touched by him lives on, and there was no one who loved a good celebration more than Jordan. In fact, he ALWAYS had something to celebrate, everyday. And every April 14th, I know that everyone is loving him that much more - and that brings me peace.

Hoy en día, con el anhelo de tenerla, se nos ha olvidado el verdadero significado de estar saludable.
Para mi, estar saludable es tener energía todo el tiempo, poder hacer ejercicio porque me gusta y no para adelgazar, tener una buena relación con la comida con flexibilidad y sin tantas restricciones, tener salud mental, poder tener una vida social sin estrés por comer de más o romper la “dieta”. .

Y respecto al cuerpo como tal, para sentirte cómoda con el, no es necesario cambiar el cuerpo, es necesario cambiar de actitud. Dile adiós a los estereotipos de belleza y quiérete tal y como eres❤️ ahí es donde encontrarás salud. .

. Y aunque suene cliché, detener el “body shame” comienza con la comprensión de que los cuerpos vienen en TODAS las formas y tamaños, y que pocos tipos de cuerpos están como se ven en redes sociales. Esa foto de la modelo de instagram que tanto aspiras ser, es un mínimo porcentaje de la población, y en donde muchas veces, no se encuentra salud.

Most people don’t know how to properly fuel their bodies & think less is better or that eating “healthy” means you can’t have anything you actually enjoy eating! Not true!

Nutrition is just fueling your body with the nutrients we need & then having the options to treat ourselves on occasion, it doesn’t mean you’ll never eat tacos again! ♀️ Because that would just be cruel!

When we’re hungry our bodies are craving nutrients, not just calories! We need to fill those daily calories with dense nutrition 1st to allow our bodies to actually perform at their best! The normal physician isn’t going to give you a food recommendation in most cases, they are going to give a bandaid & temporary fix medication that not only disguises your symptoms and makes you think you are getting better when in the end does not fix the real underlying issue! Hormone issues? Medication or Birth control isn’t going to fix that alone babe! & could cause even more long term health issues! Diabetes? Insulin & medication doesn’t help without revision of your nutrition!! I could list more but you get the point right

When it comes to your health, there are two important things to focus on: one is your physical and mental health, the other is your relationship to health. The latter encompasses relationship to food, relationship to your body, and relationship to exercise. It is SO important to have solid relationships for all of these in order to make good, healthy, long term changes. .
This video focuses on what it means to have a good relationship to food and the signs that you might have a bad relationship with food. Now, if you watch this video and come to the realization that your relationship to food might not be good, don't worry! You aren't doomed and it isn't the end of the world! There are many ways to work on improving your relationship to food and I will be making a video on it soon with all of my tips and tricks to get yourself on track to repairing your relationship with food.

Within the first year of being a pharmacist, I knew something was missing from what I'd learned in school. If you're a pharmacist, maybe you have felt similar sentiments. I understood how people stayed "symptom-free" with medications. But how did they HEAL? I started questioning: How could I help people get OFF of medications?

Something was deeply conflicted in me: On one hand I'd studied for 6 years to be a pharmacist. I was to dispense life-saving medications for my patients. On the other hand, I knew that nutrition, managing emotions, beliefs and shifting our mindset was and is the GATEWAY for healing. .

Up until now, I've been deeply conflicted about why I'm really here. So much has shifted in my life recently and I finally feel in alignment with my purpose. This breath of fresh air has given me the opportunity to focus on what I believe my purpose is. .
.
.
My dream is to speak and host healing workshops that can help guide people to heal their body and mind so that they don't have to rely solely on meds. *Of course there is a place for medications and I deeply respect what we do as pharmacists. I'm not recommending people stop their medications and swing totally to holistic care. I believe in balance and complementary principles.
This is my new journey I have embarked on. Full time, full fledged making a real impact on the people I have the privilege to serve. .

I know so many other pharmacists believe the same thing. Most of us hate taking pills because we know the side effects, even short term!!! I have faith that some day soon, the trajectory of pharmacy practice will focus on the founding principle of medicine-First do no harm-and focus on healing first. .
