How do you share your story with consumers? (Comment below!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The world is changing. Nowadays, the average person is 3 generations or more removed from farms. In the United States less than 2% of the population are farmers. That means there are a whole lot of consumers and not so many producers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is so easy for consumers to get confused about the food they are buying and where it comes from. Even I am amazed with all of the crazy labels in the grocery store. GMO free, rBST free, pasture raised, organic, etc. So how are the consumers supposed to know what those labels mean? Sadly, Google is the typical go-to. When you look up dairy on Google, many animal rights pages come up. As you know they are always giving people skewed explanations about things they have never experienced first hand. What do they know about dairy farming? Certainly not as much as a DAIRY FARMER. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is our job as farmers to get out there and show the public what is happening on our farms. They want to know, we need to provide them with the truth. You can start by simply creating a social media page for your farm and posting some of your cute cow pics (which I know you all have eating up your storage). Have a “day on the farm,” where you open up your barn doors for the public to tour. Host a farm dinner in your community and serve the nutritious products that you produce. When you see someone purchasing milk in the grocery store, thank them! It might spark a conversation where you can share your story as a dairy farmer. There are so many things that can connect us with our consumers. Drop some of your ideas below!

That time Tommy, me and Ryuji Chua of @peacebyvegan went to Huntsville, Texas to pick up a pregnant Honey bovine from a 6th generation cattle rancher and his wife (Cindy & Richard). This was part of a long, and lively conversation we had with them. The entire dialogue was nothing shy of miraculous. We laughed, cried, and had a very real connection. We witnessed a cattle ranchers heart soften to the point of where he was actually shedding tears because of the feelings he has for the cows he sends to slaughter.
