One of my favorite and one of our most amazing rescue stories. Rusty was found by a Good Samaritan at a Makapuu Lighthouse. He was in bad shape, having been attacked by a dog. Thanks to your donations, we were able to get him to a vet. The news was not good. He had a broken pelvis, so many breaks in his tail it was useless, a nasty upper respiratory infection, and two very large soft tissue wounds. He developed pneumonia, which required a one week hospital stay before he could even be operated on. The amazing staff at Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital took sure great care of him and he was able to get his tail completely removed and the soft tissue injuries repaired. The surgeon opted to let his pelvis heal naturally. Due to the severity and location of his injuries, he was never expected to be able to control his bowel movements. We had to research possible mainland rescues who took in special needs cats. But, as Rusty was already a miracle cat, his miracles didn't stop with surviving such a brutal attack. Within 48 hours of release from the hospital, Rusty regained control of his bowels. Less than 7 months later and he is completely healed. He is the happiest boy, and although he has no tail, he can do everything a normal cat can do. He reminds us daily of how resilient cats are and how we can't give up on them even when the odds seem low. Rusty showed us a will to live every step of the way. New Fosters! I have to be honest, I’ve really missed having bottle babies. It’s been almost 2 months!! These little babies are about 2-6 days old, the black one is a little boy, his name is Oak and he weighs 130g. The Tabby is a girl, her name is Willow and she weighs in at just 116g. As usual, I’ll be tending to these little ones every 2 hours to make sure they grow nice and strong with round avocado bellies As usual, donations really do help us out so much. I’ve updated my amazon wishlist with items that we always need with newborn kittens: miracle nipples, a heart that has a heartbeat for the snuggle kitty (ours died), nutrical, and formula❤️
