We dyed our eggs after Liturgy this morning and are now heading to the monastery for yet another powerful Holy Week service. ❤️☦️ I love this week and the anticipation that builds as we get closer and closer to proclaiming Christ is Risen!! - According to tradition, during a dinner with the emperor Tiberius Caesar, Mary Magdalene was speaking about Christ's Resurrection. Caesar scoffed at her, saying that a man could rise from the dead no more than the egg in her hand could turn red. Immediately, the egg turned red. Because of this, icons of Mary Magdalene sometimes depict her holding a red egg. This is why Orthodox Christians dye their eggs red for Pascha—the new Passover.

Nearly one year ago Back when Adelaide was a tiny secret, hidden inside my tummy. This was taken just after church by my lovely @alexiselmassih and I love Elizabeth’s grumpy face Poor clergy kids- they have to be in church for hours and usually no nap on Sundays. She’s a trooper though! . . How is lent going for you all? (Those who are participating that is!) We’ve had a mixed bag- making strides to foster prayer, repentance, and humility, and then failing miserably and having to ask for forgiveness (a lot)! But speaking with my priest yesterday he reminded me that this is an opportunity for us to make a change. And oh how thankful I am for those chances to “begin again”.
