Where you learn to ‘buddy dive’. At the time you are so overwhelmed with learning to dive and what you see underwater to realise the real value of this ‘buddy dive’ until you actually need it. Doras ramble today is about running out of air while diving and not really knowing what was going on. Thankfully I grabbed my guides attention and he knew straight away I was out of air and bang! The buddy dive move was practiced again in real life. My gage was still reading that I had air but I ran out. Scary stuff I will tell you. But when on top I was telling a fellow diver and he said it’s happened a few times. Like no big deal. So I thought ok. I guess this is why you learn and practice this in gaining your Padi ticket! I had another dive that afternoon to not be fearful of diving and all was fine. •••••••• Fast forward a few years and a few more dives. This dive video you will see me again doing the buddy dive. I could see I was running low of air and my guide knew also from the checks they do. So my guide before it ran out gave me her buddy mouth piece and here I am breathing away going up slowly and enjoying a bit more of the dive while I could. •••••••• Therefore I’m very grateful for my experience running out of air previous, very grateful my guide was near to help me. But more importantly that it’s a serious sport this diving stuff and that things sometimes don’t work and it’s normal to run out of air faster than others so don’t panic and use someone else’s air to finish the dive.
