The bathroom vanity is finally done and I love it more than I can say. The richness of the wood with the black and white is one of my favorite combinations. To get this color, I gave the contractor a candle stick with a wood tone that I loved and had them match it. It can be difficult to articulate the perfect color you’re looking for when you go to stain anything. Finding something in a color you already love and having it duplicated makes the design much more clear for everyone involved. This may sound silly, but I'm often inspired by my friend's coffee tables. For some reason it's intriguing to me: what people display, how they choose what to put there, and the way those things showcase beauty, and creativity. . I never feel well equipped to style my own coffee table though and am kind of envious of so many of the fun and creative ones I see at my friend's homes and on IG. I don't have beautiful coffee table books or items I've bought just for this spot. Mine is more practical. An antique box that holds our remotes, pens and coasters. A candle for ambiance and a plant for some life! Held together by the @mainlybaskets basket from my dad. His last present to me. ♥️ . I'd love to have one of those gorgeous coffee table stylings but for now this seems to work for us.

Sorry for the downer post but it’s real life! It’s a sad day today. Found out one of my favorite women has breast cancer. Man!! What do you say or do to give a moment of comfort for someone going through something like that?! I remember feeling this same way earlier this year when my sister was diagnosed with MS. It’s like there are no words to express the sorrow your heart feels. You pray and pray for their comfort and try to be there but still feel inadequate. I wish I was better at expressing myself in these situations. I hope they know what’s truly in my heart even though I can’t always convey it. Words are hard! Hopefully someday I’ll find the words. We had the door open while loading my mom's car this afternoon and she thought the door looked so pretty from the inside. We added some fern to the door basket, with my favorite faux tulips and it's just what the little basket needed. . I'm bummed my mom left today but even moreso that my 3-year old still feels awful.
