Obsess over your customers — past, current and future — not your competition, and the results will speak for themselves. I spend a lot of time talking to clients. Most of that time is spent discussing strategy and how to help them better reach their business goals through customer retention. As a natural part of this process, we talk about their competition: what they’re doing, what products/services they offer; the experience on social media strategies and so on. And this is healthy. But if I don’t base my decisions on my competition, what should I base it on? You already know the answer… hint: it’s in the title. At the end of the day, it’s your customers who have the best idea of what is good and bad about your services; it’s your customers who buy your products; and for better or worse, it’s your customers who keep you in business. So start getting to know your customers, as intimately as possible. In fact, obsess over them. Pricing Structures Pros & Cons by @morejanda // Choosing the right pricing structure for your project can mean the difference between success and failure. - - 1️⃣ Fixed Bid: Fixed-bid pricing is a set scope of work with a fixed price. You tell the client exactly what you are going to do and exactly what it is going to cost. - - 2️⃣ Hourly: You and your client agree on an hourly rate. You track your hours and bill your client in regularly agreed-upon intervals (such as weekly or monthly). - - 3️⃣ Retainer: Retainers are also based on hours spent on a project. Typically, you give the client a discounted rate for guaranteeing you hours (usually by month). - - 4️⃣ Bucket of Hours: A bucket of hours is similar to a retainer, but the hours aren’t required to be used each month. For example, you could sell your client a bucket of hours at a reduced hourly rate and give them 6 months to use the hours. - - 5️⃣ Dedicated Resources: Slightly different from retainers, the dedicated resource structure allocates certain employees to a client for a certain period of time. First ask a ton of questions about their project and then says, "Great, thank you for the information. What I want to share is the power of YOUR BRAIN POWER. Listen, it isn’t easy, think about it...even the smallest of techniques like foiling. If you are doing the same sectioning and the same hair over and over on ever guest...that’s not brain power. BUT if you are tailoring your guests experience to make sure your guests are getting their dream hair through conversations about expectations, charge for BRAIN POWER. . . I got a couple messages in my DM about how in their town or location there is NO WAY to charge anything other than $150 - $200 and I think that’s bullshit. I feel that you aren’t having a beauty budget conversation in your consultation and you are looking at other stylist speaking price and wishing you could...one day... be that!!! Well listen, you can TODAY. Make a shift and have a consultation that is BUILT for your brain power and to navigate your guests on WHAT IT TAKES to do the service.
