After XCM Nationals yesterday, today it was XCO's turn. What a challenging and fun course they put up with short notice in Ísafjörður, I really enjoyed the fight against @hafsteinngeirsson as ever before. In the end I took the win, having fought hard to gain time in the climbs while losing in the descents. Ready to race on Sunday here in Les Gets. The course is a fast one, plenty of space but some hard climbs so it will be a very physically hard race. To make things fun the course also includes parts of the bike park routes with some fast and flowy bits. Tough day today, at the World Cup in Les Gets. Finished 105th out of 118 in a hot and dusty race, leaving everything out there but coming away with something of a disappointment. It's not the first time I've been hurt by the heat during a race, and today I had a hard time dealing with it. Luckily I had help from my friends @steini_saevar @alextausen @torfikristbergsson, handing me bottles out of the feed zone and taking pictures and videos. Made the race so much better to have good support from home! Coming up are a busy couple of weeks, with a double national champs next weekend, followed by a national series road race and a 200km gravel race, looking forward to all of them! #mbworldcup #ucimtbworldcup #lesgets #france #proicelander

Next up is the next round of the cross country World Cup. Set in a brand new course in Les Gets, France, this will be a special race. Very curious to ride the course, and seeing how I can perform on it. Tomorrow is the Belgian Mountainbike Challenge, and I'm feeling ready to have fun in the mud! 4 days of hard racing around the Ardennes starting with a prologue time trial stage tomorrow evening, where I start 8th last. Expected more than 37th place today at marathon European Champs, but happy with my efforts and for keeping my head up through the race. I had bad legs at the start and missed a good move when the peloton split before the technical climbs started, and really didn't feel the engine coming on until about 2 hours into the 4,5hr race. For the second half I was able to keep going and move up a few places, but on a course like this it hurt my chances to spend most of the race alone. Time to put the legs up for a while and prepare for next weekend's World Cup in Les Gets, France! I don't like losing but I love a good challenge. Racing for second place at today's road Nationals left me pouting like an old man, second guessing my decisions and thinking of what-ifs. But after some thinking I felt good about my efforts, and most importantly, the best man today won! Congratulations to @90birkir, the new national road champion of Iceland ! @ingvarom ・・・ This morning's ride was different from what I usually do on a bike. No intervals, no power numbers, just hiking up a big hill with friends, and going way too fast downhill. Starting with snowy, icy rocks, going through some loose switchbacks and ending with going down endless hills of gravel and rocks, in a straight line.
