I went to New Fortune Cookie seafood restaurant for lunch-brunch today with a friend. Not so much for the seafood but to try some of the very tasty looking roasted ducks you can see hanging in the window when you walk past the shop.
The restaurant itself looks quite basic. It was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, which the staff must have realized as well, as they weren’t the friendliest bunch and seemed in a rush to get us to order and eat as fast as possible.
We ordered a quarter of the roast duck, some stir fried morning glory with garlic, and some spicy pork with dried chillies. The roast duck definitely didn’t disappoint, my only regret was not ordering more than a quarter :(.
The stir fried morning glory was tasty but bit too oily. We never actually got the pork but got some shrimps, with what I guess was something resembling a sweet & sour sauce instead. I figured that as we were in a seafood place and I like shrimps I wasn’t going to complain about it. The dish was decent, definitely not the best shrimp stir fry I ever had. When we had finished our food we received some nice juicy orange parts, with a fortune cookie, on the house.
All in all, not a bad place for brunch on a Sunday afternoon, I feel I should go back to try some of the seafood, and to get a bigger portion of that duck next time.
