Several women have reached out asking when/how rainbow week began. There is no official “Rainbow Week”, it’s just something I began just over two years ago, 2017 was the first one. . I was pregnant with my rainbow baby, she was due to arrive in February and I just wanted this ministry of Grayce and Kindness to celebrate the ones in our arms as much as we celebrate the ones in heaven through the heavenly birthday posts. So I picked a week in March and reached out to some crafters, mamas, created some graphics and went with it. Now I pick a week each year in March and celebrate! . I was pregnant with my daughter Aurelia and was so concerned about loving her as much as I loved Grayson. I celebrate Grayson’s life often, and have allowed his life to influence how I celebrate other babies in heaven. I wanted to make sure this ministry didn’t stop with him. So with my rainbow on the way I saw Rainbow Week as an opportunity to celebrate with families like mine that carried children in their arms as well as just in the hearts. . I remember being so nervous to do the first year. I was planning it all and reaching out to people to help out all while pregnant with my rainbow, not holding her. I remember thinking she could die just like my son, but I am gunna do this week anyway. And here we are two years later with our third rainbow week completed and I have her and another daughter I celebrate! . It’s true, I am the “founder” of rainbow week, but I by no means created the term, I just loved it and designated a week to celebrate these sweet rainbow babies in our lives. In honor of rainbow week, heres to all of you who know the pain of child loss. You are not alone. You are seen and heard and loved. I promise. ❤️ For those who have not heard of the term rainbow baby, it refers to a baby that is born after the loss of a miscarriage, still birth or death in infancy. Just as a rainbow comes after a storm, a rainbow baby gives hope after darkness. Evie and Joshua are our two rainbow babies. Eve came after our three miscarriages, (two of which were our twins, all IVF), and Josh came after a failed adoption. Which trust me, felt like a miscarriage. These babes have brought us so much joy after so much misery and heartache.
