I think about Dumbledore whenever I see a lamp post flicker and I laugh at the simple sight of a rubber duck. I often find myself wondering if an old boot in the roadside is a portkey; and I tirelessly search for bowtruckles in the woods, eyeing trees that could be used for wandwood ... ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ And in that way, Rowling has added a layer of enchantment to my life. Traces of her spellwork can be found all over our world; silently reminding us all that there really is magic in the most mundane things. And for that I'm eternally grateful. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Which every day items reminds you of Harry Potter? ✨

Time-Turners are dangerous, unreliable and unwise to tamper with; and yet I’d have a hard time resisting using one. I’m a creature of nostalgia; always experiencing the world through a filter of treasured memories. I find myself rereading old books and rewatching old movies in search of something I once felt or thought. Forever chasing the past and forever failing to relive it.⠀ ⠀ If I had a time-turner I’d go back. Back to midnight releases and movie queues. I’d try to remember what it was like reading that first page of Rowling’s first book, not knowing what was to come. I’d retrace my steps to costume parties held at my local library or late nights spent writing fan fiction on obscure internet forums; trying to reshape the magical world I knew so well. I’d observe the child who read a book and entered through a portal to an entirely new and yet oddly familiar world. ⠀ ⠀ I’d go back. Relive the feelings and happy memories the Harry Potter series bought me. And I wouldn’t change a thing. ✉️✨

This book has been published in an endless number of editions. Beautiful editions with vividly coloured edges; editions filled with illustrations, maps, forewords and afterwords and all sorts of magic. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ And yet, no matter the number of new editions, this one remains my favourite. My old and battered Danish edition that my mom gifted to me once upon a time. Despite its depiction of Hogwarts as a fairy tale-castle and its many translation errors and flaws, this is the book I love the most. Because it introduced me to the magic. ... Reading up on magical homework with my favourite Hufflepuff, @witchyhufflepuff. ✨⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I often think about the scenes taking place on the periphery of Harry's vision. The things we don't get to see or read; the path we cannot travel, because Harry treads in a different direction.⁠⠀ I think about the Hufflepuffs tapping their door in a melodious rhythm and letting curious Slytherins inside; the Ravenclaws seeking out Gryffindors for tips on how to get inside the library's restricted section; the Slytherins playfully beating Gryffindors in a game of wizard's chess; or the Hufflepuffs gently offering advice to any lost first year.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I'm sure Hogwarts is full of beautiful friendships crossing the boundaries of houses and colours; a starry eyed Luna befriending a fierce Ginny or a regretful Draco helping out Harry Potter himself. ✨ ⁠⠀ What's your favourite friendship in the Harry Potter series? ⁠
