Hello, hi . Okay, I have a hard time coming up with #fridayintroductions but it's been a while and I want to welcome new people. So I'm Mary. Started this yesterday but #sixkids . . That's me up there from about 9 months ago after pushing out 9 pounds of vernix covered baby. We've been blessed with 7, 6 we're getting to raise. And yes, to every person I see in public ever, ALL BOYS. It's as loud and muddy and full of weapons as you imagine. . Brief stats: Catholic: 38 years Wife: 16 years Mom: 15 years Blogger: 8 years Birth doula: 7 years Published author: 1 year. My book is called Made for This: The Catholic Mom's Guide to Birth released by @osvcatholicbooks last spring. I never in a million years planned on writing a book but Holy Spirit, hi. I've been blown away and humbled by the response. As I was writing I kept thinking, "it's worth it if it helps just one mom and baby." I tear up just thinking about how generous our Lord is and how our little trembling fiats can produce the most abundant fruit when they're united with Him. . My life was rocked by the #theologyofthebody and #JPII many years ago and they changed everything. I'm a birth junkie and believe every mom and baby deserve to be treated with the utmost of respect and evidence-based care before, during, and after every birth. I'm not okay with "just keep them alive" and I don't think Jesus is either. This postpartum time has been crazy hard and having and raising six kids well is no joke. But I also think it's probably God's mercy keeping me out of trouble . I'm melancholic/choleric. (Love the 4 temperaments but time for better descriptors, yes? ) I believe in redemption, in mercy, in healing, and that Jesus Christ wasn't messing around when He said He makes all things new. That means me and it means you and it means that person or situation that the world and we have decided is disgustingly hopeless. Nothing is beyond His power or reach. My life, my marriage, and my family are proofs of that. So here's to continuing Easter, the reminder that He can and does bring life out of death, hope out of despair, beauty out of suffering. Here's to having a Redeemer. Here’s to new life.

This photo is pure excitement for his baby who will be here before we know it and already looks just like him. I really wish this face described how I felt last weekend and this week. Honestly the last week has been a mix of feeling angry, sad, and then inspired and positive I want to tie up the reasons as to why everything happened last weekend in a bow and be done with it, but it’s hard. I had the best training cycle ever and listened to my body without having any injuries. I followed the plan yet adjusted when I needed to adjust. I have some hypotheses but all out of my control! But at the end of the day, it was just one randomly bad day, one race, and there are plenty more to come. Not a reflection of the hundreds of miles run before this day. Social media can put the pressure on us to always be positive, but that’s not always every day life, and that’s okay! It’s okay to feel all the feels. Thats real. One bad day doesn’t define anything about you and your abilities. That’s why marathons are so dang tough... yet keep pulling us back for more every time I’m so happy that I finished the race but also that I decided to walk/run and not push into pain after spraining my ankle because now I’m walking around and exercising without pain... less than a week later I know this wasn’t a testament to my current fitness or all of the hard work over the last 20 weeks. I’m ready to move forward, keep cross training to get stronger (and some PT!), and pick up where we left off in a couple months to start training for the NYC marathon! Trip down memory lane The man of God you see today wasn’t always this way. I was struggling to find myself: I was getting drunk, getting high, repping the set everywhere I went, so focused on being a “real ni**a” that I lost sight of who I really WAS. But God saved me from myself when I FINALLY ADMITTED that I needed HELP. I rededicated my life back to God & RENOUNCED my sinful ways. I began to acknowledge God daily & pray & read.
