Sometimes a #refashion is just custom tailoring. This #handmade #1960s #mod #floralprint dress was $10 from @ltrainvintage! Back then, retail was expensive. One of the best things about #vintageclothing that most of it was made by hand. My mom told me in the 60’s she would babysit for four hours to afford to buy a dress pattern and some cool fabric. Then she would make herself a dress! This is how most girls and women did it. They all grew up with Home Ec class and learned to sew. I feel so extremely grateful that I can take a true flower-power woman’s hard work from almost 60 years ago and give it a new life, using my awesome @brothersews #sewingmachine. ✨My first refashion! A medium size men’s shirt into 1940s styled ladies blouse ✨ I got a bit stuck on the sleeves with the needing to take away fabric to better fit my little arms to still needing excess fabric to create the puff ratio but I powered through and it turned out fine! Was macht ihr um gegen die Hitze anzukämpfen? Bei uns werden alle Rollläden runtergelassen und nur nachts gelüftet. Bei den Temperaturen habe ich nicht mal Lust mich an die Nähmaschine zu setzen und zu nähen Dabei liegt bereits ein besonders hübscher Stoff und Schnitt bereit. And once he’s in all-day school along with his sisters, I’ll have 6 hours everyday to focus on my career. I mean I’ve put my career in the back burner for the last 12 years, what’s one more . Also, YouTube burns me out if I try to cross post on my blog, FB and IG(it really is no joke taking videos & photos of the before/after, sewing while filming every single step, taking photos along the way, editing, voice-overs, thumbnail for blog, YT, FB, IG, posting with the right captions/tags/links, condensing into a 3-min. video for FB, then 1-min. for IG, pinterest thumbnail, captions, I am so burnt out). So I’ll be posting less on here(like I have been lately I guess) in my feed but will still post daily in my stories of behind the scenes, sneak peeks and deals. Still feeling inspired by the #restylingexchange, I was finally motivated to refashion this dress I got from Modcloth a few years ago. Unlike my dress form, I could button it up all the way but it was so tight in the arms I could hardly move. So I separated the bodice from the skirt and cut a waistband from the bodice to make it a high waisted skirt instead. Happy fourth of July!! Old granny pants are probably one of my favorite things to refashion I did one last summer and it was quite a success! Last week, I took these pants and was trying so hard to make something dope out of them, but individually! I didn't realize how complementary the colors were until I threw them in a pile with each other out of frustration . . But then, after skimming Instagram and seeing some dope fashion pictures of some actresses I follow, I got inspired to make something trendy (the shorts) but edgy (the color blocking and top) . . Also, the back of this top FREAKING DOPE. I'm hella proud of the back SWIPE to the second photo to see . . So whataya think? Did I reach that sort of threshold of higher fashion but still trendy? Like I'm NOT trying to reach high fashion that you only see in magazines or runway shows I want just a taste of it added onto simple trendy clothes you see everyday people wear ya know what I mean?
