How important is transparency to you? I took this photo on Saturday when I had over a dozen packages to mail. But today I only have 3. You wouldn’t know that though if I didn’t tell you. You would be comparing your Tuesday sales against my Saturday sales. That’s called ASYMMETRIC INFORMATION, which is roughly explained as one person withholding info about a situation that another person is making decisions based on. This happens every day on Instagram. We make assumptions about others’ success without having access to the information of their ACTUAL success. That’s why I am trying really hard to summon the courage to make my business FULLY transparent. If I am going to basically encourage others to pursue reselling, I believe it is my responsibility to show what that honestly looks like. ✨ Of course, not EVERYONE has to do this. And I am not implying you SHOULD. But I think there are a lot of smoke and mirrors on Instagram. And a lot of people are quitting their jobs & going “full time” on Poshmark under false pretenses of what to expect. ‍♀️ I absolutely LOVE reselling. And want to grow it into a six figure business model. But as the @curvygirlresaletn podcast reminded me yesterday, people wildly underestimate what that takes. If you are absolutely content with your current income on Posh or want to make just a little bit more, you’re AMAZING and I applaud you. But I am not. So I am pumped to do whatever it takes to get there & show y’all what that looks like. My idea right now: showing up on YouTube later this summer to begin the process of showing all my numbers, all my expenses, outlining my specific goals and how I plan to achieve them. I’d love your opinions on it!! But mainly, if you care about transparency, let me know!! And if you follow anyone who does a good job at being transparent, let me know!! Let’s talk about pictures of packages! Stacks can be deceiving and I wanted to demonstrate that this morning with my packages. These are identical stacks, but the one on the right is worth nearly 4 times as much as the one on the left! So, when a person posts a picture with a giant stack of sales- they could be equal to or even less than your only sale of the day! Pictures of packages should only motivate you to hustle harder! It took us roughly 450 Days to go from 0 to 1,000 listings sold on @poshmark (Sep 2017 - Dec 18th 2018) It took us 136 Days to go from 1,000 to 2,000 listings sold. The point is not to brag. I love not knowing how much money I'm going to make this month! - said no one ever. There are so many plus sides to this job, but there are also a few things that make it a little scary. No, I don't love not knowing exactly how much money I will have earned by the end of each month, but I'll tell you what I do love: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love being able to make lunch in the mornings for my baby girl, take her to school and be there right at 2:30 pm to pick her up everyday. I love being able to carefully curate a collection that I present to others who are willing to spend their hard earned money on. I love that I get to turn my passion into an actual business that allows me to grow every single day. I love being my own boss. I love envisioning where I'll be in a year's time, in five year's time, and smile. I love that I get to meet so many incredible people who have a passion similar to mine, and that we have a place to share ideas, thoughts and tips. I love a million other things about this job, but these are probably my favorites. All these things make this the most enjoyable, rewarding career path I could have ever chosen for myself. ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do you love most about reselling?
