Flowers must be dried prior to casting in resin. If you want to preserve the shape and color of a flower, one of the best ways is to use silica gel. Although called a “gel”, silica is actually the consistency of sand. I start with about a 1/2 inch of silica gel in the bottom of a plastic container. Then I snuggle the blooms in and slowly pour the silica gel around and over, completely covering the entire flower. Depending on the size and moisture content of the flora, they should be dry in a week or so. If you’re unsure, error on the side of longer. You can’t over dry them. That’s it! Gently remove from the silica gel and voila! Your blooms should look amazing and ready for resin! #floralee
