Joan Jett and Sandy West were the two original founders of The Runaways. After they were initially introduced to each other, via Kim Fowley, the pair would spend hours rehearsing songs and getting to know each other's style of rhythm. While proving to be close and genuine friends, Sandy and Joan here are pictured at Santa Monica enjoying each other's company. Brad Elterman captures the moment and recalls the story behind this picture. - "One day I piled all of The Runaways into my car and drove them off to Santa Monica beach. We did a bunch of posed photos on the pier, but this is definitely one of my favorites. Probably because it is just Joan with Sandy West the drummer. HISTORIA DETRÁS DE LA FOTO Un día como hoy Kurt Cobain es llevado de urgencias al ser encontrado en coma por su esposa Courtney Love durante la mañana del 4 de Marzo de 1994 en su habitación del hotel Excelsior en Roma. Estas fotografías fueron tomadas por un paparazzi mientras abrían la ambulancia para llevar de urgencias a Kurt, podemos ver el rostro en llanto de Courtney dentro de la ambulancia y luego la ira e indignación de su rostro alejando al periodista, una ves mas las aves de rapiña de la prensa buscaban un titular a costa de una desgracia como esta, esa mañana apareció el titular "Kurt Cobain muere en Roma". Pat era el único que se encontraba acompañando en Roma a Kurt, el resto de la banda voló a USA, la noche anterior Kurt esperó a Courtney para una re encuentro romántico, pero al llegar Courtney se quedo dormida incluso sin poder quitarse el maquillaje debido al uso del Rohypnol, Kurt entró en una crisis y tomó aproximadamente 60 pastillas de Rohypnol. A la mañana siguiente Courtney encontró a Kurt en el suelo y los 2 botes de pastillas, intentó reanimarlo luego fue a buscar a Pat para que llamara a urgencias. Al hacerlo inmediatamente un paparazzi se enteró de esto y así fue como se hicieron estas desafortunadas fotos. Hasta el día de hoy estas son las últimas fotografías de Kurt Cobain con vida irónicamente. A la mañana siguiente Kurt estaba estable de salud, luego de hacerle un lavado de estomago, mientras en el resto del mundo aún circulaba el titular "Kurt Cobain muere en Roma".
