There is no family in Russia that did not lose their grand- or great-grandfather during the World War II and the eternal flame at the Kremlin Wall will make sure that we will always remember them. . The eternal flame is the monument, made of a gas lamp or a torch that burns continuously for an indefinite period. There are dozens of eternal flames around Russia, but this one is at the grave of the Unknown Soldier in memory to all men whose names we don’t know. . The eternal flame in Moscow was lit in 1967 and still stays on. Now it is the common place for laying wreaths happening on 23rd of February, the Defenders of the Fatherland day, and on 9th of May, the Victory day. . Самое красивое сооружение этого города я оставила напоследок. ⠀ Мое мнение о мечети в карусели Вдруг вы не знали, но знаменитая мечеть Кул Шариф была разрушена в 1552 году войсками царя Ивана Грозного во время штурма города. И как выглядел оригинал - можно только догадываться, печально конечно. ⠀ ▫ ⠀ Хотя ее облик был положен в основу архитектуры храма Василия Блаженного в Москве, который был построен в честь завоевания татарского ханства. ⠀ ▫ ⠀ Но больше всего наверно всех интересует, что за Кул-Шариф это был ⠀ Он  являлся поэтом, главой мусульман Казанского ханства и одним из предводителей обороны Казани. Погиб он конечно очень трагично.⤵ ⠀ ▫ ⠀ Для татар он был великим человеком, его называли "сеид", что у мусульман означает почетный титул для потомков пророка Мухаммеда. И правда, много сил положил Кул Ша­риф, чтобы отбиться от русских войск. На минутку, татар было 30.000 против 150.000 ⠀ ▫ ⠀ ⚔ Амир (руководитель) объединил своих по­сле­до­ва­те­лей в осо­бое во­ен­ное под­раз­де­ле­ние — «полк», со­сто­яв­ший из мо­ло­дых дер­ви­шей и су­фи­ев. Обо­ро­нял­ся от­сту­пая, вплоть до зда­ния мед­ре­се, по­том под­нял­ся на его кры­шу, где был за­ко­лот, и упал вниз. Так тра­ги­че­ски пре­рва­лась жизнь этой вы­да­ю­щей­ся лич­но­сти эпо­хи Ка­зан­ско­го хан­ства. ⠀ ▫ ⠀ С Москвой все же заключили договор, чтобы дальше могла продолжаться жизнь в Казани. ⠀ ▫ ⠀ Но 400-летнюю мечеть с восемью минаретами уничтожили. Вместе со своей богатой библиотекой эта мечеть считалась центром религиозного просвещения в Поволжье. Захватчики не оставили от здания и камня на камне. ⠀ ▫ ⠀ На сегодня новая мечеть самая большая в Европе. ⠀ Восемь символов мусульманской веры – полумесяцев отождествляют восемь минаретов прошлого. ⠀ У древних булгар символом процветания и возрождения являлся тюльпан. Именно его архитекторы и включили в интерьер. В предыдущем посте есть он на фото на окнах. ⠀ Ковры на полу мечети - подарок правительства Ирана, а цветная хрустальная люстра весом около двух тонн была сделана в Чехии. ⠀ ▫ ⠀ На цокольном этаже расположен музей исламской истории.

You all know ‍that the Victory Day (May 9) is fast approaching, the day when we will commemorate the effort of those who protected ⚔️our country in the Second World War or as we call it in the Great Patriotic War. That war was the most severe, but not the only one. Through its history Russia had many wars and never ☝️really lost its national independence. Though there was one period when Russia was sort of under the rule of foreign conquerors. This period lasted more than 200 years❗️from 1220’s-1230’s till 1480. It is know under the name: Tatar-Mongol invasion. The tatar-mongols were prairie tribes united under the strong rule of Genghis Khan. They were great horse riders, skillful warriors⚔️, had strict discipline but had no agricultural traditions, no crafts (see pic 2). In the 13th century they were on top ⬆️of their development and started their world invasion. Russia (which in those times was called Rus), on the contrary, in the 13th Century entered the period of Feudal disunity, which means that Rus used to be strong well organized country, but started dividing into different areas under rules by different members of royal family: each duke (knyaz -князь) wanted to be independent so the country has no strict and unified management When the Mongols came, disengaged Russian dukes (knyazya-князья) were catastrophically defeated, some Russian cities were destroyed (the photo actually shows Mongol attack to the city Kolomna) and Russia started paying a tribute to the Tatar-Mongol.
