Good morning! For today's #MintageMonday post, I'd like to share my first post about replacing board game money with real currency. In this particular case, I used real Russian rubles to replace the coins in #RussianRailroads! Using real currency can be way more cost-effective than buying fake coins for your games. I could easily just use quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, and it might cost me a fraction of what I'd pay for something from Artana or Fantasy Coin. But in most cases, plain money isn't a good thematic match for a game. There are better generic options, and if you're like me and want your coins to match the theme of your games, US coinage won't cut it and fake coins might not offer the right options. Real coins can sometime be difficult to track down in correct quantities, or for a decent price. It takes a little more legwork and a willingness to buy on eBay to get what you're looking for. But I have real coins in several games, including #LeHavre, #GreatWesternTrail, and #GrandAustriaHotel, and it's always been worth the effort. These rubles are perfect thematic fit for Russian Railroads, and cost me about $12 for 20 coins. That's on the high side per-coin, but since the overall cost was low I was willing to make the jump for a beautiful addition to one of my favorite games. Got in a game of German Railroads tonight and I have to say that I think that this variant of Russian Railroads is a vast improvement of an already awesome game. I love the design-your-own track mechanic and the ability to get those income tokens. RUSSIAN RAILROADS ▫️ is #mybestplayexperience of april!!! it really took me by surprise... for the first few rounds it seems like a very straight forward worker placement ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️ game... but then comes the first trigger of a crazy combo... WOAAHH this feels so satisfying and you are amazed when someone pulls off 4-5 chain reactions in a row! wow, just WOW! my currentgame since no other comes close to this kind of experience! / 5 ▫️ have you played it ▫️ #russianrailroads war mein ca. 180stes Spiel, welches aber schon seit Dezember im Regal stand... WOW, dieses Spiel gibt mir die Art von Spielerfahrung, die ich mir von modernen Brettspielen wünsche - hier wird das Belohnungszentrum bis zum Anschlag getriggert (wenn man einen krassen Zug macht) und es macht somit riesigen Spass, das Maximale aus seinen begrenzten Spielzügen herauszuholen! Damit steh ich natürlich nicht alleine da, sondern es gehört auch zu den wenigen Spielen, die wirklich schon öfters auf den Tisch kamen - passiert eher selten!!! Mein aktuell absolutes Lieblingsspiel, obwohl mich diesen Monat auch Star Wars Rebellion schon umgehauen hatte!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 ▫️ Würde sich jemand von seinem German Railroads trennen

Топ-9 игр от моего мужа . . . Меньше всего из моего близкого окружения настолки любит мой муж Ну так часто бывает: для баланса кто-то шутит с людьми. Настольщик? Лови в пару любителя «Монополии» - и то только по четвергам (я сознательно утрирую, если что). Поэтому наш топ с Виталей почти не совпадает (оно и неудивительно): 1️⃣ «Колонизаторы». Куда бы мы ни ехали, это первое, что он говорит с собой взять (а вдруг сыграем). В итоге расчехлять другие игры запрещено, пока не играны «Колонизаторы» ‍♂️ 2️⃣ «Русские железные дороги» (на фото). Можно с дополнением. Сухая игра с несколькими путями развития - и баста, по-другому не выиграть. Инженер, что уж тут ‍♀️ Мне нравится «РЖД», но со временем я поняла, что слишком сухо для меня (кстати, доп как-то правит эту ситуацию). 3️⃣ «7 чудес». Выигрывает почти всегда. И ещё в последнее время не хочет играть в неё с новичками. Выпендривается 4️⃣ «Покорение Марса». Ну тут излишни комментарии, мне кажется. Особенно ему нравится лишать меня листочков 5️⃣ «Замки Бургундии». 6️⃣ «Находка для шпиона». 7️⃣ «Бум» - мне тоже очень нравится эта игра, нужно отгадывать известных людей в три этапа (словами, жестами, ассоциациями). 8️⃣ «Терра Мистика». 9️⃣ «Тени над Камелотом». Игра с предателем, очень красивая, а ещё можно играть толпой - аж до 8 игроков. Больше, наверное, и нет ничего. Ещё он уверен, что ему понравятся «Брасс» и «Сквозь века». Посмотрим

Choo choo! Sunday we played #russianrailroads by @zmangames_ with Mike and Emily of @boardgame_dog. I liked that this was a worker placement game and engine builder at the same time, making it different than the other #traingames we have played. It's too bad it's out of print, as this makes a great step for someone who loves #tickettoride but is not ready for an #18xx game. Have a favorite train game? Highlights from yesterday's adventures in track laying. Russian Railroads was an acquisition from RJ's trip abroad. So far, we've found it to be a fun little engine-builder that were finally warming up to. It's not really *as* astounding hyped up to be. That hype now seems more a product of scarcity than anything else, but it IS a solidly-designed game. That is no surprise being co-designed by the mastermind behind 18CZ. There is little direct player interaction, but there's enough interesting tactical decisions that require you to adjust on the fly, all squeezed into a brief playing time. Each turn evokes a sense that "There must be a way I can do what I want..." and you are often challenged to be creative with the tools offered to you. The shining moments are usually the smorgasbord of combos. When you are able to chain one after another, it's a very satisfying feeling.
