I just came home from tonight's photo shoot near the Neist Point on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The weather was great, and the conditions were excellent as you can see. If you ever in the location, make sure you walk down to the eye level view, it's well worth the effort as the view gets much even better when the rock and lighthouse raise above the horizon.

Well, it had to be done... yes, well, it’s not a Munro but it does fulfil my Indiana Jones fantasy! [best seen in my profile - well worth the click] It’s a female from the Cretaceous period called Trix. Standing at 12 metres long, it’s a giant Tyrannosaurus rex. Trix is the third most complete T.rex skeleton ever discovered, with over half of her bones uncovered and each one remarkably well-preserved. She lived to over 30 years old, meaning she is also the oldest T.rex skeleton ever found. CLEARING CLOUDS There’s something magical about the way clouds disperse. I spend a lot of time on shrouded mountain tops, patiently waiting for changes in the weather. Sometimes fruitlessly, but often fruitfully. And it’s these moments, when the grey lightens and the hills are revealed, that are most special to me. . <

Yes, it is a pineapple… actually it is a 258 year old pineapple… which was built in 1761 by the Earl of Dunmore as a summerhouse where he could appreciate the views from his estate. At this time, pineapples were among Scotland’s most exotic foods! Ooh! Ahh! Wait! Stop scrolling!! • Every day’s a school day - here’s a site we haven’t shared with you before! • This wee beauty is Orchardton Tower, near Palnackie in Dumfries and Galloway. • It’s thought to have been built by the nobleman, John Cairns, around 1455 - and its circular plan would’ve been as much of a hot topic among Cairn’s contemporaries as it still is today… • That’s because circular towers were frequently used in the strongholds of the 1200s, but by the 1400s they had been replaced by exclusively square and rectangular towers! • Orchardton Tower has some parallels in the south-west of Ireland, though most of these were built a century or so later! • It’s probable that Cairns had a number of sources for his inspiration, but it’s not totally clear why he went for a circular tower… • Apart from its shape, Orchardton is pretty standard in the accommodation it provided. • Like any comparable tower-house of the period, the main family accommodation is within the tower, and comprises a basement cellar, a first-floor hall, and two upper floors – housing private chambers! • The remains of a great hall lie to the south of the tower, and this is a relatively rare survival… • This is where Cairns would have performed more public functions as lord of the estate. • Here he met with tenants, and hosted large-scale banquets and other gatherings! • Have you visited Orchardton Tower before?
