Na maioria dos casos, as células resultantes também deferem nas moléculas que herdam e, normalmente, se desenvolvem em diferentes tipos celulares. _ Mecanismos especiais são necessários para posicionar o fuso mitótico excentricamente em tais divisões assimétricas.
