Hi everyone this is a post in collaboration with the wonderful @agonyautie. Sara suggested working together on a post together all about stimming and what it looks like visually. Here are some wise words from @agonyautie :
.
‘Stop shaming stimming. Stimulate yourself through your senses. Have fun, Stim freely, be respectful of others and Stim Shame Free. Make sure to stim safely and stim boldly!’
.
I’ve tried to visually represent in my two illustrations ✏️ the wide variety of things that can be referred to as stims (which is short for self-regulatory behaviour). Stimming helps a person to self calm and process overwhelming environments. Some stims can be quite subtle such as hair twirling or chewing whereas others are more noticeable and can be destructive such as skin picking (dermatillomania) or hair pulling (Trichotillomania) which can cause damage. It’s important to recognise that stimming safely (whether you are a child or adult) is okay and not something to ever be ashamed of. It should not be looked down on or discouraged. Go forth and stim freely!
This is the first Carolines Cart, I’ve seen in Lowe’s. I was the happiest person at Lowe’s, when I saw this!! I said OMG!!! !! I sat Lovey, strapped her in. Lovey was happy and safe. It made my shopping so much easier. Love this SPRINKLE SENSORY BAG by the wonderful @activelittles
This is a fantastic sensory activity in addition to working on shape recognition, number play and hand eye coordination. This activity encourages children to isolate their index finger which is important for the progression of pre-writing skills.
YOU’LL NEED:
Zip plastic bag (double up if you want extra security)
Tape
Coloured rice or sprinkles
Craft stick (for writing)
Check out @activelittles page she is full of the most creative activities for kids!

So many skills in one fun activity. Not only are you working on fine motor skills, this activity promotes the isolation of the index finger therefore preparing a child for handwriting necessities! This activity is also fantastic for color recognition skills in addition to the promotion of hand eye coordination. There’s A LOT of days when I get overwhelmed by the stress of wedding planning, self publishing, working my OT job, attempting to flip a house, and Jordan traveling often... People are always asking how I do it. Well there’s a lot of tears, and a lot of cheers from my fiancé, family, and friends, too.

Today is hard coming back to everything after a week long vacation. But then, photos like this one of @_hallemarie_ pop up in my feed and the good kinda tears well up in my eyes, because I remember why I started, and why I’ll never stop until I prove, we’re all able!

Just want to thank all of you extra for your kind words, comments, messages and emails. It’s days like today that I read them and smile because, I know, together WE are STRONGER. ♥️ Love and hugs to you all. And extra long hugs to those of you whose minds are racing a million miles, whose chests are feeling a little tight today. I feel ya. Life is tough, your never alone. I’m on the sidelines cheering you on! You’re going to do so many amazing things in your life - as am I. Together we CAN

Is your child a fussy eater? Is mealtimes a stressful time in your house?
My number 1 tip for fussy eaters is food play! Food play is best when there is no pressure to eat the aim is play and play only! Get your kid to touch, smell and hopefully taste food! Make it into a game, get your child exploring food and overtime hopefully they will start to taste!
