In the moment of intensity via behavior or emotions, a trick is to step aside mentally - take what is happening into context. Being “in it” can make our world feel small and like nothing is working. Chances are, there is a lot that is - yet we are hardwired to notice what needs improvement, what needs to shift, and this can cause us to reserve less energy for joyful, fun experiences. . Question judgment of what is happening in the moment, and most importantly question self-judgment that arises. In this moment, we are enough. . #beyondbehaviors @monadelahooke

1) excuse my hair and gum chewing 2) this is a favorite sensory activity of this little girl and of so many I see in the clinic. It’s full body tactile and proprioceptive input; it’s calming, organizing, and easily adjusted to fit a child’s preferences or needs. You can easily increase or decrease the amount of pressure you’re pushing through the ball, do only certain portions of the body, and do with the child lying face up or face down (or both!). I usually do 10 reps then ask if he/she wants more or is all done. Try it when a child is “everywhere” for some calming input or is sensory defensive and needs increased input for integration. This will forever be one of my favorite videos! Leo may not be able to sit up on his own or even hold his head up by himself for very long, but we will not let that stop him from enjoying things like this. Then fill a large sealable bag with hand sanitizer (or hair gel) and add a small ball. Seal the bag and place it over the maze. Secure with tape and let your toddler or preschooler get busy moving the ball through the maze. A órtese foi moldada com o tamanho do meu dedo e ficou certinha na mãozinha dele. O excesso de espuma foi para garantir que não iria machucar. E de fato não machucou! é muito amor por essas mãozinhas
