Scent bottles for sensory play ⁣ ⁣ I find smell to be one of the hardest senses to create learning and play opportunities for. I add scents where I can but specific activities can be tricky. Shout out if you've got some clever ideas up your sleeve but I quite like scent bottles. I've used salt shakers to create ours because they're clear and have holes in the top already (spice bottles would work the same) but you could always DIY a set with a drink bottle or jar. ⁣ I don't recommend using powders just in case the child inhales them. But you can fill them with food, flowers, perfumes (apply liquids to cotton wool) and talk about what the children can smell, if they know what it is, what they like and dislike. They're handy for babies and older children too. Here are a few ideas for using them...⁣ ⁣ 1. Straight up exploring scents for babies. Keep the jars clear for a visual experience too.⁣ 2. Use opaque containers or add the scent to cotton wool balls to create mystery scents. ⁣ 3. Older children could match the mystery scents to photographs.⁣ 4. Play a memory game - explore the bottles then, with a blindfold or eyes closed, guess the scent.⁣ 5. Match your scent jars to a particular theme or occasion such as Christmas. ⁣ 6. Not every play experience is a hit around here. Take this music shop, for example. ⁣ Frustratingly, even as I was setting it up I was thinking to myself 'this won't work' but decided to give it a go anyway. The kids love playing shop and they love music, what's not to love?!⁣ ⁣ My aunt is a great teacher and I remember her telling me when I was still at University that dramatic play needs to be relevant to the children expected to use it. Play is a child's way of making sense of the world around them and their experiences. It was her voice in my head telling this won't work - I should have listened! A toddler who has never been to a music shop won't know what to make of it. The shop sat untouched for four days. ⁣ ⁣ Yesterday I swapped the instruments for the supermarket resources and my kids were playing with it before I'd finished unpacking the box. They took turns being the shop keeper, they understood the products and had reasons for buying them and practised language they've heard adults use. It made sense to them because it was familiar. Никогда ни к кому из врачей не обращалась по поводу неё, даже не знаю, на что она у меня (на какое цветение). Меня она особо не беспокоит (чешутся глаза, нос, периодически чихаю), но все терпимо. Несколько лет назад у меня стала проявляться аллергия ещё и в августе-сентябре, видно тоже на какие-то растения. Симптомы те же. Не знаю, есть ли смысл обращаться к аллергологу и сдавать аллергопробы. Медикаменты никакие не принимаю, в августе могу пропить парлазин. Но так как сейчас беременна, точно принимать ничего не буду, потерплю. ⠀ ❓Расскажите, кто сталкивался с сезонной аллергией на цветение? Выясняли, конкретно на какое растение?
