"This photo was taken in the Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park near Phuket in Thailand. It is a photo of a strangler fig after its host tree has died. Our society now is behaving like this strangler fig in that it is using up the resources of our world which is our host, leaving us with a hollow shell. We need to recognise that we need to sustain the resources from which we depend so that we can maintain a symbiotic relationship that could sustain us in the uncertain future ahead. We need to learn from this image in that we have to care for that which keeps us alive - our mother Earth." -- Jose Andres Ignacio of the #Philippines.

"This is a majestic baobab hiding the sunrise on Mombasa road in Kenya. I love trees and baobabs especially, which can stand big and fearless in the face of continuing challenges of nature and climate change." - Marta Panco of Moldova for #ShapingForests.
