#beautifulcambodia is dedicated to eco- and sustainable travelling. We encourage travellers to be constantly be aware of their delicate surroundings and how best to support local projects. Elephants are highly endangered animals and at #elepantvalleyproject they strive to give the elephants back their independence, natural behavior and dignity. Riding elephants is popular all across Asia, but is mostly a cruel exploitive practice where elephants are 'trained' with bull hooks, electric prods, sharp sticks and chains. We strongly suggest staying away from these types of animal tourism that offer tricks like painting, dancing, and any other sort of exploitative practice that keep elephants in detrimental living and working conditions. Rather support sanctuaries where the elephants roam free and have a change chance to live a more natural existence. #crueltyfreetravel
To protect and honor the temples and sanctuaries, the official Angkor of Conduct was introduced by the Apsara National Authority. This institution is responsible for the protection of the temple complex.
-

When visiting Angkor Wat and surrounded temples, please be aware that 1000 years ago these places were the highest sanctuaries of the people. Partials had only kings and the highest priests. Many of the people who lived and worked at the temples for many years were not allowed to visit anywhere.
Today, as a traveler, we have the opportunity to explore those sanctuaries.
Please be a responsible traveler by applying to the rules, telling your friends/ other travelers and by raising awareness if you witness any misbehavior.

A sunrise in #beautifulcambodia which should be on your bucket list!
Are you planning on visiting Angkor Wat soon?
Angkor Wat is the biggest of all the temples within Angkor Park and its gargantuan size is overwhelmingly beautiful. Originally, Angkor Wat was built as a Hindu temple, dedicated to the god Vishnu, but was later converted into a Buddhist temple, and statues of Buddha were added to the already intricate design. Today Angkor Wat still stands as one of the 7 wonders of the world. The temple is featured on the Cambodian National flag and is recognized as the pride of all the Khmer people.

The mercury levels are soaring in our city. This prompts us to think of cooler climes and times. Throwback to our trip to the beautiful Koh Rong Island near Sihanoukville in Cambodia. Can almost feel the cool breeze blowing across the turquoise waters and spotless sands of the beach at Koh Rong Island. This island is reached after a nice speed Boat cruise of about 60 minutes. The island is indeed a haven for those looking for beaches with large stretches of virgin sands and waves that gently caress your feet. The French version of the television Serial, "The Survivors", was partially shot here. Definitely a great place to head out for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday by the sea.
What are your plans to beat the heat this summer? Where are you heading for the summer holidays?

The 2nd Ta Prohm temple in #beautifulcambodia
Well known is the Ta Prohm temple which is located in Siem Reap and once featured in the Tomb Rainer movie starring Angelina Jolie.
Rather less known is the 2nd Ta Prohm temple, which was built in the same period as the more famous Ta Prohm.
Located about 30km south of Phnom Penh, next to Tonle Bati Lake, the temple offers a nice escape from the capital city.
Right around the Tonle Bati lake are many picnic spots and it’s especially during the weekend a popular place for local people.
