In fact, without all the self-inflicted stress and pressure upon my shoulders, my life became instantly better. This is not to say that you shouldn’t strive to improve yourself, of course you should but just remember you don’t have to be perfect to do amazing things. 〰️ . Keeping it real with todays Instagram post. I didn’t realise how bad my Vans looked with this dress until I saw these photos but sometimes it happens, and honestly, I wanted to wear heeled sandals but I couldn’t be bothered to paint my toes. I thought I’d looked cool but really it looks like my actual shoes got uncomfortable and I had to make an emergency switch. ‍♀️‍♀️ Also, I know I’ve been MIA I’ve been hiding indoors cause my allergies are really getting to me!

Heyyy!! . There are a few new babes who have started following me recently so I’d love the chance to reintroduce myself! . 〰️ I’m Amy (Sheppardpie )! I’m based in Brisbane, Australia and I’m a member of indie-pop band @wearesheppard . My days are usually spent writing music, recording music or touring music but when I’m not doing that, I’m usually at the gym or doing some random underwater photoshoot . . 〰️ As I’m not currently on tour, I’ve recently been using my platform to try and be a better role model to my (predominantly female) followers (don’t worry music lovers, the touring will begin again at some point and you’ll get to see a whole lot more Sheppard related coverage.) . The reason I’ve started #kissmyfatass posts is that I’ve struggled so many years with trying to keep up with appearances. Ive struggled with self-confidence and body image and I’m here to let y’all know that we are ALL human. We don’t need to measure up to unrealistic beauty standards (what’s the point). I’m here to celebrate individuality and true beauty which goes much further than external appearances. . 〰️ So that’s me for now, thanks for being here and supporting me and each other! Hey y'all I realised while I was out trying to find new PJ's (and taking selfies apparently) that going in to changing rooms at stores and having to look at myself from all angles in unflattering light used to nearly bring me to tears. I had so much disgust and disappointment in myself every time I 'wouldn't look good' in the items I'd picked out. In pictures you can manipulate angles and lighting to produce an image you feel confident with. In the flesh, it's much harder to be happy with what you see. But I noticed today that my 'flaws' don't repulse me or fill me with anger. I don't pull myself apart anymore. My body hasn't changed much but my mind set has. Forcing myself a year ago to start treating myself with love and respect felt so forced and stupid and pointless. But I was so fed up with being miserable that I figured all this 'self love' stuff was worth a shot. And you have to understand, it does work. For me, it meant stopping restricting my food intake and turning to an unlimited whole food plant based diet. As soon as I started eating properly, the bingeing went away (if only I'd known sooner ). I stopped forcing myself to work out every day if I didn't feel like it. I focused on the things I loved about how I looked and would push away all the negative voices trying to tell me otherwise. I bought clothes that were actually my size and not smaller because I was telling myself I could earn them when I shrunk down. And I started doing all the things I said I couldn't do because I was constantly 'on a diet'. Oh, how many social events I skipped either through embarrassment of myself or because I was fearing being forced to eat or drink or giving in completely and bingeing! No matter what you look like, you deserve to eat. You deserve to have fun. You deserve to feel confident. Self love in my opinion isn't just telling yourself you love yourself, it's also acting in a way that supports that: eat enough, eat nourishing food, move, play, don't harm yourself with damaging substances, nurture your talents, understand your worth and stick up for yourself. Do you ever look at pictures of yourself & remember exactly how you felt that day? ⁣ ⁣ A year from now, I hope I look back on these pictures & remember: ⁣ ⁣ I felt confident. ⁣ I felt happy. ⁣ I felt worthy. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve been on a journey to body positivity for about a year now. I’ve read countless books, blogs, articles. I’ve listened to more interviews & podcasts that I can count. And I’ve spent a lot of time with Jesus - hashing out the ins and outs of my calling & my worth. ⁣ ⁣ In this year, I’ve changed tremendously - in every way. Better yet, I’ve grown. I’ve been fighting so hard to be able to look in a mirror - and look inside my heart - and see beauty rather than imperfection. ⁣ ⁣ Ya see, this whole self love thing isn’t (and hasn’t been) just for me. ⁣ It’s easy to think that initially.⁣ But because I’ve spent this year working on how I see, treat & champion myself - I’m a better girlfriend, daughter, friend & sister. ⁣ ⁣ I’m stronger.⁣ I’m braver.⁣ I’m wiser.⁣ I’m kinder.⁣ —> Because I wake up every day with a renewed love for myself & others.⁣ ⁣ We weren’t meant to live in insecurity - this much I know is true. Sometimes the decision to see yourself through the lens of love is the most unselfish selfish decision you can ever make. ⁣ ⁣ It truly is the gift that keeps on giving.⁣ ⁣ So here’s to a year on this journey & to many, many more!
