Being an alternative home owner is kind of weird. All of us who own our own little dwellings are super proud of it. Especially those who built it themselves, you don’t know the hard work that goes into a project like this unless you undertake the task yourself. I highly encourage those of you who are looking to get into this lifestyle to do it yourself. It’s definitely easier to pay someone to do it for you but I would argue that you miss out on so many benefits and positives. I couldn’t imagine missing out on meeting everyone that I did throughout the build process and also all the skills that I have acquired as a result. However, more importantly it gave me a sense of confidence that I didn’t have before and an ability to problem solve and look for positives out of dire situations. If you’re thinking about doing a build, stop. Just do it, take the plunge! It’s been hella hot down here in Charleston lately. We rely on one mini split in the way back for relief and it doesn’t always make it up to the front. Honestly, #Reflectix is one of the main reasons its still cozy in here, it ain’t cute but it’s extremely effective keeping out the heat. We cut ours to size and added velcro. I’ve seen some folks sew beautiful fabrics around theirs to make it more aesthetic. I was super against it for a while but it keeps the bus so cool I’ve grown warm and fuzzy feelings for it. You can buy big rolls of it at home depot. That’s my pro tip of the day.

THE WORLDS FIRST SKOOLIE LANDING ZONE!!! • I love meeting others on the road who inspire me to push my boundaries! I was driving through Delta, Colorado about 10 days ago and this truck with @ultimateskydivingadventures posted on the side pulls up next to me. Next minute I have a DM saying “jump tomorrow, 8 am!”. Unfortunately for me I had to drop my mate (@wyatttyndall) off at Salty Lake City the next day for a flight so I couldn’t make the 8 am jump. However, I did say I would be back! For those of you who know me, you’ll know that I started climbing to conquer my fear of heights. Continually inspired by @yestheory and their #seekdiscomfort motto I couldn’t miss this opportunity. Following my jump the day before, yesterday Ben, who owns the skydiving school, jumped out of his Cessna plane with the goal of landing on my rather large rooftop deck but outrageously small landing zone. Obviously he made it. Having 14 years of experience collecting 10,000 jumps in 4 countries he made it no worries. If you are thinking of doing a tandem or learning to skydive I would highly recommend making a trip to Delta to visit Ben and his staff. They were highly professional while making it a relaxed atmosphere, a bunch of true legends! It’s so sweet to meet someone who not only allows but encourages ideas that are in the unknown. Not to mention they have a banging food truck that sits outside the hanger offering wicked food and drinks after you’ve touched back down on earth. • In a world where it is becoming easier and easier to sit and watch the adventures of others from the comfort of your couch I highly encourage yourself to get out, get scared and push yourself. Whether it be throwing yourself out of a plane or simply jumping into a social situation that might make you cringe, get out and do it.
