One of the reasons we decided to travel in a bus was so Alan could continue to collect materials and produce his driftwood art on the road.

Being an alternative home owner is kind of weird. All of us who own our own little dwellings are super proud of it. Especially those who built it themselves, you don’t know the hard work that goes into a project like this unless you undertake the task yourself. I highly encourage those of you who are looking to get into this lifestyle to do it yourself. It’s definitely easier to pay someone to do it for you but I would argue that you miss out on so many benefits and positives. I couldn’t imagine missing out on meeting everyone that I did throughout the build process and also all the skills that I have acquired as a result. However, more importantly it gave me a sense of confidence that I didn’t have before and an ability to problem solve and look for positives out of dire situations. If you’re thinking about doing a build, stop. Just do it, take the plunge! I would highly recommend reaching out to others doing the same and going through the process together, they will be some of the best people you meet and it will give you connections all over the country!

It’s been hella hot down here in Charleston lately. We rely on one mini split in the way back for relief and it doesn’t always make it up to the front. Honestly, #Reflectix is one of the main reasons its still cozy in here, it ain’t cute but it’s extremely effective keeping out the heat. We cut ours to size and added velcro. I’ve seen some folks sew beautiful fabrics around theirs to make it more aesthetic. I was super against it for a while but it keeps the bus so cool I’ve grown warm and fuzzy feelings for it. You can buy big rolls of it at home depot. That’s my pro tip of the day.
LIFE UPDATE: alright guys. I think we’ve waited long enough. The big news is WE GOT A BUS!!! This is so crazy to say. But yes. We bought a bus and our plans are to renovate it and make a tiny home out of it! Never in our wildest dreams we thought we’d be doing this. But here we are!! This is something we’ve gone back and forth on for quite some time now. And about 2 months ago, we decided to start looking for buses. And we bought our dream bus 2 weeks ago! That was our reason for going to California. to pick up our bus! it’s been one wild ride. And so fun!!! We’re so thankful to Jesus for His perfect timing. And it’s been so amazing seeing His hand in all of this. We are SO EXCITED to start this new adventure! If it wasn’t for our bus, we wouldn’t have even gone out to Cali. So we like to say the adventure has already begun. we are currently driving it back home to Florida where we plan on getting to work on it right away! We haven’t gotten our bus Instagram up and running quite yet but we were too excited and had to share the news with you all! We’ll let you know when our new insta page is up. Till then, cheers! ❤️
