SOTD Roja dove Elysium EDC. Was 27 degrees today and decided to bust out this gem. It has an amazing citrus opening that should last a bit longer but after 30 mins it becomes more grapefruity with further notes of rose, vetiver, woods and spices. It finishes off with vanilla, leather and benzoin notes. This has the same DNA as Sauvage, bleu d Chanel and modern masculine blue fragrances so it’s not really ground breaking IMO. It is though a very pleasant scent and probably of better quality than other designer blue fragrances. It lasts for about 6hrs and it quickly becomes a skin scent after the first one hour. Best for summer days and night.For the price point am not sure it’s worth it but most things are not worth their prices these days. Scent of yesterday evening was Royal Mayfair by Creed. Had this for a while but haven’t given it a proper wear. This is an interesting one. Opens up with notes of citrus, gin and eucalyptus. The mid becomes rosy and floral and finishes of with a woody base. The opening is a bit harsh and chemical like for the first few minutes but the fragrance comes to life after that with the eucalyptus and rose notes giving it its uniqueness. It’s got moderate projection and excellent longevity but becomes a skin scent about 2hrs in. It has an old school British vibe to it and more suited to an older gentlemen but marketed as unisex and a lady can definitely pull this off. TGIF! SOTW is Prada Amber pour homme. Haven’t reached for this in a minute. Top notes of citrus, neroli and spices for the first few minutes, mid notes of vanilla, tonka bean and patchouli. In the dry down it’s mostly vetiver, vanilla, leather and woods. Though it’s an amber based fragrance as the name suggests it doesn’t seem to be listed in the notes. I would describe it as a soapy, powdery fragrance. Smells like an expensive bar of soap which makes it great for office wear. Non offensive and smells clean and fresh. Excellent longevity, 7-8 hrs and moderate projection. Fall, winter and early spring will be a good time to wear this IMO. It could be pulled off in summer but with less sprays. A very good scent from the house of Prada.
