She spent seven long months of 2018 as a patient in both Hasbro Children's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, kidney dialysis, and a stem cell transplant. After she was declared cancer free, she had to remain in isolation at home for several months, and then stay away from crowds. Valerie has always loved music and attending concerts, but wasn't able to go to any while she was sick. We are wishing the fisherman well this week as the Pawtuxet Athletic Club is hosting their 12th Annual Memorial Fishing Tournament this week! The Pawtuxet Athletic Club has been another great supporter, as a portion of the proceeds they raise during this event is donated to A Wish Come True! This past week was the 12th Annual Jay Shaw and Everett Souza Memorial Fishing Tournament which was sponsored by the Pawtuxet Athletic Club! The fisherman did awesome. Our Wish parties have truly been amazing and impactful, as we are building relationships and forever friendships. Here is Sam last evening with his family, Wish Granter, and our Executive Director, Mary-Kate O’Leary. A huge thank you to the Providence College Friars for sponsoring this Wish of a lifetime! Sam is a great young man who just came back from his Carnival Cruise Wish trip last week! Everything fell into place for this family which is amazing. About 2 weeks ago, Sam was able to have his port removed as his treatments ended right before his trip- GREAT timing! He is graduating high school this year and then going to college at URI this fall.
