Everyone talks about how fast time flies. As a business owner every day, nevermind year, that passes is an achievement. Do we sound like a broken record when we thank our team and our guests? Maybe and maybe it sounds trite and rehearsed. We assure you it is not. Staff can easily take for granted their job and their customers. Customers can easily take for granted the business and their Brrristas. Owners can easily take for granted all of it but I can promise you that none of you are ever ever under appreciated here at The Fresh Monkee. When you take a risk and create something out of nothing and it is met with every opinion and tons of feedback it can be amazing and awful. The struggle to provide an environment for staff that is fun, supportive and functional while balancing quality of service, consistency and expectations is HARD. The struggle to give our guests a great product with superior customer service in a beautiful shop every single time is HARD. We cannot please every staff member or every customer every time. We know this. As we grow we experience new challenges that personally, as the creator and owner of something I never did before, have to laugh if I'm not crying, with its uniqueness and craziness. There is not a day that goes by there isn't something that blows me away. The Fresh Monkee and our family is everything to me. So much so, I have Crave the monkee (yes thats our monkeys name), tattooed on me. Haha, yup! No lie. Balaycard factz 1. This is my version of a #balaycard - a mixture of baby lights and balayage using foils and leaving no hair in between. I am even backweaving to skip leaving a reserve. Go back a few posts to my last price breakdown and read more about this technique:) 2. Next, “why are you using multiple foils per section?” The reason is because this dramatically increases my speed because I don’t have to stop and grab foils. Foiling like this allows me to have a sturdy base, extend the foil length if necessary and close the foil quickly by overlaying. This may seem wasteful, however we recycle 95% of our waste generated by the salon by being a @greencirclesalons :) Did that answer your questions? This is my guest Ally! She is an angel and we always have so much fun with her hair. I did a full highlight using @trusshair #blancblondtruss lightener. I also used @joico #joicocoloreraser to remove some old pink we had left over on our ends while our highlights processed. On damp hair I applied five different mixtures of @joicointensity to create this magic!

This process was incredibly long and possibly one of the most labor intensive corrections @iamginabianca had ever done. We know it’s not a crazy black to blonde transformation, but look closely at the top and the bottom of her hair. She had been black box dying her hair for a loooooong time and had many sessions done to try and become blonde, however the bands we so strong that nothing looked good no matter what she did. The goal was to even out the bands as much as possible and keep ALL OF HER LENGTH. They only trimmed 1/4 inch, minimized the bands as much as we could (her hair stopped holding the gloss toward the end so we chose to stop) and get her to the lightest, brightest blonde possible. Our first step was a platinum card with @oligopro extra blonde and ten volume, melted with @paulmitchellpro the demi 3A 5N and prepped with @joico #defydamage. We truly believe her hair would not be this healthy with other tools. After our first step, we washed + dried then reapplied a full babylight with balayage in between to brighten the blonde a little more and try to erase the band. Our final step was about an hour in the sink melting and blending what was left of the band. The process was long, frustrating and in the end worth it, but it’s still not finished. Please can the world not box dye their hair! What do you guys think? We wish it was a tiny bit lighter, but we are really happy we didn’t have to cut anything and that it’s so healthy! _______________________ Who else loves a subtle healthier transformation?! ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Bye bye bands ✌ ⚠️ Starting point: Bands of burgundy red, orange, brassy blonde, a few blonde highlights and about 4 inches of ashy level 6/7 regrowth Goal: Bloooondee!!! Buttery and light as can be- not too ashy or warm. Heavy face frame, natural root melted down for an easy grow out! Process: Full foiliyage with sections about 1/4th inch wide- super super tiny! I backcombed the hair for a seamless blend and picked out any of the pieces that were blonde/highlighted. I then went back on those pieces in a separate foil and just feathered the regrowth without pulling through on the ends. Babylight face frame, and I checked the foils and ensured the bands stayed saturated and were lifting. Let me be clear i FULLY expected to have to go back in and reapply to the bands in the foil or in the sink as a wet balayage, however to my surprise they lifted perfectly even with the rest! This is not typical- but the oligo extra blonde gods were on my side. I did a root melt with 7WG, 6N and 6NB Shades EQ, and her ends with 9V, 9G, 9N and clear! I did a treatment to balance the pH and add shine and followed with a moisture mask! Pricing: Full Foiliyage (includes gloss and blow out): $250 Extra Bowls: $40 Root Melt Add On: $60 Treatment: $50 Total Investment: $400 Next session: 6-8 weeks face frame, gloss and cut $160 Also how do we feel about the brick background vs my usual white?
