We finished our silks classes for the time being, I’m a bit surprised how much stronger I am after just 6 weeks. I’ve occasionally worked on this balancing trick for no real reason other than the first time I saw it, it looked cool and I couldn’t do it. Today I tried it randomly after stretch class and was able to knock it out with straight legs. We got a little bit sassy in class on Saturday and made a few #pdhandspring attempts. I feel most confident with #twistedgrip so that’s what I tend to try. But cup grip may be interesting when I’m stronger. This is possibly the best attempt I’ve ever made. My hips were high, they even turned a little. Now here’s the confession, I wasn’t engaging any of my core or leg muscles. The only ones I was aware of using is my arms and shoulders. Active core engagement is something that I don’t do very well. therefore something I really need to work on. Having that skill will help my pole abilities grow, possibly more than anything else. One of my favourite things about my #polejourney is all the ways it has helped me to grow, change, learn, and become a better person. The one drawback to performing is that it can be very hard to work on progress AND put together a routine, costume, and rehearse it enough. So I’m very happy to find out now that showcase is over, I can still do some things. I am taking after @SheenaBolton here and getting a #calfcramp when doing a #pdAirInvert The really impressive thing though is how even though my calf cramped up, I was sturdy in holding myself and working it out. I’m excited to get back to working on making progress. If I can get a couple more things under my belt I can consider moving up a level.
