Book Club Editions (BCE) versus First Editions. I’ve received a few messages over the past few months asking if a certain book is a first edition or not, so I figured I would take a few posts to talk about the differences between the two. . . This whole post was started last week after talking with @horrible_henry about the differences in sizes between BCE and first editions, so that’s where I’ll start. This is probably the most confusing part about telling the difference between the two. For the most part there are basically two different sizes to King books: the large 9.5” tall and the small 8.5” tall. First editions published by Doubleday (except for Pet Sematary) are the small size, while the large size is always BCE. (See Salem’s Lot in photo: left is 1st, right is BCE) But there are also small size BCE, so be careful! As for Doubleday’s Pet Sematary, it’s backwards...first editions are the large size, while the small is BCE, but there are large BCE too! Still with me? For King’s 1980s work published by Viking, first editions are the large size, while all small sizes are BCE (see Firestarter in photo: left is BCE, right is 1st), but yes, you guessed it, there are large size BCE. In fact, the only small size BCE Viking books I’ve ever known of are from the early 80s. There are no small BCE of IT and forward, to my knowledge. . . Because of the mixture in heights and editions, size can never be used solely to declare a book to be a first edition, rather it can only be used solely to determine if a book *isn’t* a first edition. . . I'm finally doing @tays_shelf 's challenge... #myfirstkingbook! . Just like hers, my first King book was IT... When I was 11 lol. I literally read this book because my mom told me I wasn't allowed. Needless to say, I didn't understand any of it ‍♀️ . This is that very copy, too. It never had a dust jacket . Tagging some folks if you want to do the challenge!

#stephenking #cujo Uzun zamandır King okumuyordum. Ve sayfada hıc paylaşmadığımı farkettim. Tabi ki okudum ama çok fazla değil. Örneğin kara kule, o, mahşer asıl eserleri okumadım. Sıra ile alıp okuyacağım. King'in kurgularına gerçekten hayranım. Başarısına yorum yapmak bile bize düşmüyor diye düşünüyorum. Kitaba gelecek olursam beğendim. Fakat olayları daha fazla Kujo'nun gözünden okumak isterdim. Isırıldıktan sonra ki dönüşümü daha detaylı anlatılabilirdi. Yanı kitapdaki bas karakter bir köpek ama ona ve onun bakış acısına az yer verilmiş. Kardeşim ile beraber seçmistik bu kitabı. Çünkü bizim iki köpeğimiz var onlar bizim için her şey Bütün itibariyle güzel bir kitaptı. Tavsiye ediyorum. Ne de olsa Stephen King. E esse ao contrário de muitos outros é curtinho, apenas 255 páginas. Li tudo de uma vez. Apesar do que o King nos fala logo no início, que não é uma autobiografia, logo a seguir temos pela visão do King, como foi sua infância ao lado de sua mãe e irmão, pra mim o ponto alto do livro são as peripécias que ambos comentem, ri muito. Lá pro meio do livro ele faz um detalhamento do que acha importante para quem tem aspiração a se tornar um autor, e com certeza pra quem curte escrever essa parte contem dicas ótimas. No finalzinho do livro ele fala sobre o terrível acidente que sofreu em 1999, e mesmo depois de tanto tempo é impossível não sentir um aperto no coração já que por pequenos detalhes esse acidente não teve outro desfecho. A leitura é fluída e cativante, as melhores partes pra mim é sobre sua infância e os momentos que surgiu a ideia para alguns de seus livros. O que me faz dar uma dica, se você pretende ler Sobre a escrita em breve, veja se já leu essas obras: Carrie A dança da morte Misery Buick Eclipse total Caso tenha lido todas, se joga. Se não, melhor segurar a leitura pq tem spoilers! No final ainda tem uma lista do Stephen com os melhores livros lidos por ele, fiquei feliz em ver que tbm já li alguns. Bem é isso.
