Traveling for the next 16 hours on a plane ✈️ but I didn’t want to miss out on finishing up the #StorySnippetsChallenge! Below is my current #themestated (said to my MC by a character my betas are loving!) & then I combined my #excitingmoment and #fundialogue in one passage where my pixie pirate MC & her crew are in the midst of a crazy storm! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ALSO! You have a different kind of strength. I know it. And someday, you will too.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #EXCITINGMOMENT & #FUNDIALOGUE: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But the sea only became angrier, her waves growing bigger and bigger as if daring us to proceed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It’s the Numa!” my crew began to call out over the winds as they ran back and forth, doing all they could to keep the storm from pulling out little ship apart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “They must not want us to capture this ship!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “What if it’s cursed?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I shook my head. They were my crew, but they were a superstitious rabble, the lot of them. Sure, even I’d admit the Silver Sea acted as though it had a will of her own. But at least we could see the sea. The Numa were a different story entirely. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “We are not turning this ship around because of some mystical beings! As my beta readers are finding out, I LOVE worldbuilding (maybe a bit too much? ) so I’m excited that for the #StorySnippetsChallenge Challenge today, we’re sharing some #SettingSetup for our stories! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My WIP #ProjectFairyFantasy takes place in a world ruled by five fairy clans at odds, but we first meet my pixie pirate MC at odds with the magical world itself. I want the fairy world to feel alive, almost like it is a character all on its own, thus the following story snippet! ... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ MY SNIPPET: The evening had started out promising, the Silver Sea quiet and unassuming. Almost too quiet. Like the sea herself had a secret she wanted to keep from me. But the sea, like a lady scorned, could not be quiet for long. As the sun had slowly dipped down behind the towering mountains in the distance, her waters quickly grew restless. Announcing a different kind of #WritingChallenge for June! ・ Writing challenges have been a great way to meet other writers and keep my daily writing muscles in shape. But my short attention span is craving something new! ・ Each day for the month of June, I will be making a list of ten things related to my #WIP or #writing in general. ・ Why Ten Things? ・ Credit where due, the idea of ten comes from @altucher and his post, The Ultimate Guide for Becoming an Idea Machine. Read it! (Linked from post in bio.) ・ But to paraphrase, ten things is like maxing out on weights at the gym. If I asked you for ten ideas of books you could write, you could easily write down four or five. But your brain is hardly breaking a sweat! ・ But at six, seven, eight… this is when it gets hard. This is where the magic happens. Push through the fatigue and find out what is hiding the depths of your brain. ・ The ten ideas don’t all have to be good. In fact, some of them will be awful. The ten things don’t need a full explanation, a short list is fine. The point isn’t to create a perfect todo list. The point is to flex your idea muscle and be inspired by what comes out the depths.
