My favourite thing about this look? My little hood pompom! It’s so cute! ~~~ So today was another day at the physio and I actually did something I’ve never had before and probably will never have again - an ultrasound my physio wanted to see if my abdominal muscles were working correctly and it turns out that they are actually overworking. It was so interesting to me because my belly has always been a “problem area” in that it’s never been flat. And so I’d do core exercises along with my cardio to try and get that lean stomach but it never worked. The ultrasound revealed to me that not only is the layer of fat on my stomach actually rather thin - which I never would have guessed in a million years - but the underlying muscles are so overworked that they’re too thick, causing my stomach to build up bulk, whilst the deeper core muscles don’t activate as much. So weird to learn that! I’ve had chronic pain in different areas of my body for years and finally I’m learning why: most of my muscles are all healthy and strong BUT I’m using the wrong ones to do practically everything which is causing pain and stiffness. Now you probably don’t really care about any of this but it was so enlightening for me! And finally I will start an 8 week physio Pilates program next week that will hopefully help reduce the pain and also time my body in the correct way. I’m excited!
