Today was a kind of difficult day for me,due to several personal things going wrong.Well I want to always be honest and share my study journey and university life with you guys,so I will say that it was difficult although I can’t share much more. What you always ask me is how do I get motivated to do things like study and work all the time.Well it’s not always easy and there are also days like this where I don’t really feel like doing anything.But I keep reminding myself that my personal life and my goals are two different things,yes one can affect another but in general I keep them separated.I mainly do that by having made studying a habit and sometimes an escape from my every day worries but I also try to remind to myself that no matter how difficult a day can seem I still owe it to myself to work towards my goals. Of course today was not the most productive day but I still managed to do a lot of things.I studied a bit,exercised so I could deal with all the stress and the frustration of the day and as a friend of mine said I just have to take some time for myself.I also procrastinated and took care of my self by watching Netflix and just not doing anything for a couple of hours which really helped. “Success is the product of daily habits, not once in a lifetime transformations.” The focus for me this past year has been to solidify and grow my daily habits. Instead of procrastinating and being faced with a monumental tower of tasks, I slowly chip away at them each day. One of my most important habits is reviewing my flashcards. I make it a point to review my Anki deck first thing in the morning. Whether the exam is in a week or a few months away, I’ll be working on memorizing my flashcards. How to stay focused when studying‍ ———————————————————————— [These are tips that personally help me, I encourage you to try them out and adjust them to help you focus! We all have different limits for how long we can work!] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First up, Your study space‍ ———————————————————————— A study space that allows you to focus properly is essential to getting work done especially when you’re working for multiple hours in a row, you’ll need to find a comfortable space that you can remain in for long periods of time with enough space to spread out and organize your materials properly. You also need to consider the environment that you study best in, for example. I NEED ambient noise to work, so libraries and coffee shops are perfect for me, but others may find this distracting. Spend some time studying in different locations and taking note of which space allowed you to study without distractions for some libraries work wonders, but for others a completely silent room is the way to go! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Secondly, set limits‍ ———————————————————————— Understanding how long you can study before you need a break is so crucial to optimal focus. This takes time to get a feel for and you may need to experiment with different working times and break times before you can find a window that allows you to be productive but not wind up mentally exhausted. Personally my ideal intervals are 1 hour of studying with 10 minute breaks in between. An hour for me is a substantial amount of time to work on a specific section of work and still be able to retain the information without getting tired mid-way. A 10 minute break is enough for me to rest my eyes, relax, and get back into a productive state. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lastly, Identify and remove distractions from your study space‍ ———————————————————————— Our phones can be our biggest distractions when trying to focus. I recommend using an app like forest (my personal favourite which I’ve been using for YEARS) to keep you from using your phone when you’re meant to be studying! The fewer distractions in your study space - the more work you get done and the more time you can leave yourself to relax at the end of the day☀️
