A few poolside rambling thoughts and intro today and some hard HS truths ⬇️⬇️⬇️ . . 1- I've been homeschooling just over 7 years. I started out all about CM, Classical and unschooling philosophies, oddly enough. I'm now not huge on child-led schooling, but I do seek to inspire wonder and joy, building virtue and reverence in everything we do. (I leave all the unschooling stuff to our after school time.) 2- Our sets of kids have a 9 year gap thanks to a vasectomy and then reversal. Can you say redemption? 3- I was a homeschool "fan" until God led me (yes, He did) to put my girls in school a few years ago. They stayed a month. I learned a million things. I'm now PASSIONATE about HSing. 4- Big homeschooling thoughts for the day: You're the mom. God called, entrusted, and is actively equipping you right now to homeschool. That's daunting... And insanely empowering. The curriculum is a tool. Make it work for you. Be diligent to use it and know when to cut your losses. Recognize now that all the stuff you're buying, plans you're making aren't magic spells. Nothing will *fix* "it" (if you have an it to fix). Prayer, patience, faithfulness, humility= those are the secret recipe. That's it. ⬇️ Homeschool like it's worship. Homeschool like it's your job. Homeschool like you're made for this. Because it is and it is and you are, friend. ⬇️ No more doubts or second-guessing. Own it, live it, breath in the overwhelming GRACE. Enjoy the journey. Hold ideals loosely. Be flexible and responsive to the situation, the Spirit, the season. ⬇️ Homeschool/parent/lead on your knees. It's the only way to live/teach. It's what our Savior did. ⬇️ Be prepared to fail. To regret. To wish you could do over. To learn something new. To wish you'd known. Be prepared to never figure it out, never arrive, and never be done--until it really is. ⬇️ Homeschool life is not for the faint of heart. Like the gospel itself, it's vigorous and requires total attention. It's a lifestyle and a life's work. Good, holy, joyful, nerve-wracking work. ⬇️ That's not sexy or Insta worthy, but it's the honest truth. ⬇️ What's the one thing you wish someone had told you? Did I scare you away?

You probably know about Bamahenge, but have you heard about the Lady in the Lake? She's made of fiberglass and is usually floating in the water at Barber Marina, right down the road from Bamahenge (Elberta, Alabama). You can park in the lot at the marina and walk out on the dock to see her. There is no admission cost. EYELASH HACK and a 4th of July lewk honestly I’ve never posted a “hack” video and h8 that term lol but my cousin and her friend taught me this trick when we were in high school apply a coat of mascara, and use a hairdryer to help curl your lashes even more & repeat. *please be careful when doing this* I had my dryer on a medium heat setting and did not blow it directly in my eye.
