So, not many people know this, but I’ve been teaching full-time as a French teacher for Tolleson Union High School District for two weeks now. Although this opportunity was unplanned and required immediate changes, it’s exciting to be able to do what I enjoy even before graduating— though, I’m excited about that, too! It was a little challenging at first to adjust (especially starting during testing season), but I’m grateful for the teachers/those who have helped mentor me or provided me with tools and advice to better my teaching: It is because of you that I have felt prepared and that I’m motivated to teach and strive to improve every day! Those of you who know me, know that I’m passionate about languages and teaching, but also about constantly learning. That’s why I am thrilled to share with you all that I will be learning so much more in the next year... Earlier this week, I accepted an offer to help teach [English] in the Académie de Versailles for the 2019-2020 school year! I’m overjoyed and look forward to living abroad and using my French with native speakers in authentic experiences. This will actually be my first time ever going to France, and I’m glad that it will be to do what I love (if it wasn’t clear yet, I love teaching). Thank you to those who have cheered me on and supported me, whether in my studies at ASU, language-learning, or just listening to me rant... because I feel more confident now than I ever have about being on the right track! Peep me cheesin at my FUTURE HOME !!! Family and friends, I am thrilled to share with you that I have been accepted into the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) !!!! I will be moving to Versailles, a suburb of Paris, this October and will be teaching English at the secondary level for the 2018-2019 school year. Teaching overseas after college has long been a dream of mine and I am in awe that it is finally becoming a reality. For it to be unraveling in France of all places is just the icing on the cake. That being said, I am confident that I would not have made it thus far without the invaluable wisdom and constant encouragement my teachers and professors have given me over the years. Although I will not be teaching in Oklahoma, I will carry with me the passion and determination Oklahoma educators have shown the world this week and shown me my entire life. #tapif #oklaed

Have you had your first picnic of spring as yet? On my day trip to the nearby town of Bourges, I had my second for the season. It felt so good to lay out in the sun, getting some colour and people watching. ☀ Bourges is a 17-minute train ride away from Vierzon (the town I've lived in over the last seven months). It's a town of 66k, situated on the banks on the banks of the Yèvre River, in the majestic Loire Valley. ‍♀ Jacques Cœur♥, the famous merchant, was born in Bourges in 1395, and the castle he built is STILL there! Did you know that during the Hundred Years War, Paris was occupied and ruled by the English, there was even a treaty which recognized English King Henry V, as hier to the French throne, displacing the rightful heir (King) Charles VII. Ousted from Paris, Charles VII made Bourges his home and one of two towns from which the rest of unoccupied France was ruled over from, after the death of his father. Through the financial help of Jacques Cœur, and the ambition of a young heroine, (you'll meet her in the next post) Charles was able to regain his position of heir to the French throne.
