If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that I’m hopelessly sentimental, and am drawn to the themes of memory and nostalgia in my reading. Unfortunately quite a few of my “sentimental books” are in storage at the moment, so I guess I’ll just have to do another post when I’m reunited with them! Here are a few sentimental books: . Charlotte Bronte biography - my mum gave me this beautiful book and I’m working my way through it . The Sealwoman’s Gift - I was reading this whilst on a special trip to Iceland last year. A poignant novel that includes themes of memory and the transcendental power of story-telling in adverse situations. . Never Let Me Go - a gift from my late brother - I love Ishiguro’s writing and how he deals with the past and memory. For me, Ishiguro is one of the most re-readable authors - do you agree . Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel - my introductions to Daffers in my teens (though not with these editions). They’re both in my top three Daffers . Far from the Madding Crowd - my introduction to Thomas Hardy and my epiphany moment that studying literature can be immensely enjoyable! . The Count of Monte Cristo - my grandfather’s editions, and I loved this story. Though I can’t look at the name “Dumas” without remembering the amusing library episode in the movie, The Shawshank Redemption! . What are your thoughts on these books? She made a huge statement by wearing a plain white dress, and the idea spread. Before that people just wore their best dress, that way they could re-use it and didn’t have to worry about stains.

Мюзикл "Граф Монте -Кристо" в театре Музыкальной комедии, это превосходно. Ну ладно буду честна 9/10. Но это только потому, что я очень скептически отношусь к любым экранизациям, по-настоящему понравившихся мне книг так как это всегда личное видение постановщика или режиссёра и многое сокращается, вырезается, изменяется, а мне сложно абстрагировать от оригинального текста. Но так как ещё я и огромный поклонник мюзиклов, то просто не смогла пройти мимо него. Так же в дополнение, там играла моя любимая трупа так, что сказать что-то плохое язык не повернётся. Ведь они были восхитительны.
