Beginning of the Polish-Ukrainian War: After the First World War had ended, Poland was soon becoming independent as they consider Independence Day on November 11th 1918. However, there was still one problem. Ukraine and Poland would be divided into sections around Galicia. Poland has west of Galicia and Ukraine has east of Galicia. The poles would lose there mind as they wanted to keep control of Lviv, which is in east Galicia. The Poles will soon begin planning for an attack on Lviv (declares capital of Ukraine). Ukrainians will soon here of the planned attack on Lviv, which then forced a move by Dmytro Vitovsky (commander of Sich Rifleman) to the city of Lviv. It wouldn’t be soon after the Polish and the Ukrainians began to fire on one another. Fighting was intense around the city of Lviv and the Poles honestly had the upper hand as they where giving immense help with their own people, while as the Ukrainians mainly had to rely on dependent help as many uprisings against the Ukrainians occur. So not only was Ukraine fighting against Poland, but they where dealing with uprisings from its own people. The poles where quick to make a move to the railroad that connected Lviv, easily marching there way through. This was only the beginning of the Polish-Ukrainian war and there was much more to come.

I think the best way we learn is by first hand accounts of a battle or a situation (primary sources). I have a strong belief this is the best way to learn history, you get to learn what there thought process was, you can hear the tone, the message, etc. And today I am going to show you videos of men who were at the Battle of Somme telling there story of their experiences. ~ The Christmas Truces, 1914 _______________________________ Roughly 100,000 British and German troops were involved in the unofficial cessations of hostility along the Western Front. The first truce started on Christmas Eve 1914. _______________________________ The Germans placed candles on their trenches and on Christmas trees, then continued the celebration by singing Christmas carols. The British responded by singing carols of their own. The two sides continued by shouting Christmas greetings to each other. Soon thereafter, there were excursions across No Man's Land, where small gifts were exchanged, such as food, tobacco and alcohol, and souvenirs such as buttons and hats.
