Day 1 / Inner Light Challenge: What is the nature of my inner light? HARAHEL answers me, as the Knight of Swords, and shows my intellectual richness. Of course, it was going to be some kind of a sword card. No surprises here. Harahel is the Angel of Intellectual Abundance, and helps us see all things, the beauty and richness in all life, while balancing one’s intelligence with the love of learning. Indeed. . For my challenge I am using The Angel-Evoking Tarot. Its creator Travis McHenry (@travis.mchenry), once again, did a fantastic job working out the correspondences of each Angel to the traditional Tarot card. And I will be analyzing the cards in the similar style as I did last time. This deck is specifically designed to be a divination tool that utilizes the spiritual energy of the 72 Angels of the Kabbalah. The Angels connect with the power of the Divine Name as their names are devised through a series of mathematical and alphabetic configurations used by the ancient Kabbalists. . Knight of Swords is fire of Air, “the extended flame of mind”, and the general divinatory meaning can be summed up in one word - attack. “It is the True Will exploding the mind spontaneously.” Apparently this is where I shine. Swords are my strengths and my deficits. There has to be a happy medium, and balance between the two. Just like the shadows need the light and vice versa. According to Crowley “The Knights represent the power of the letter Yodh in the Name. They are the most sublime, original, active part of the Energy of the Element.” The Qabalah tells of an angel by the name of Harahel, being the name given to The Angel of Knowledge. Working with Harahel gives me great intellectual prosperity while also opening the door to gaining complete awareness. Day 29 / Inner Light Challenge: How can I be the highest expression of my own inner light? MEBAHEL as the 8 of Swords appears, again, and is the final message in this challenge. In a way of divinatory meanings, not the card I would have wished for... Interference. Looks like I’ll be doing some “mental gymnastics”, trying to make sense how it applies to me, in this context. . I’ve dealt with this card already. On day 17, it revealed when I feel the need to hide my inner light. It’s when I feel imprisoned, restricted or oppressed, and unable to concentrate the mind. Which is not hard to feel for me down here, below the Abyss in this Demiurgic Hell. Ugh. Now, as an answer to today’s prompt, the solution is quite clear. Once again I am reminded that the challenge is to not allow other people’s actions and words to mess with my mind. And, I must retain my mental focus, along with patience and persistence. So, it’s up to me to focus my inner light (aka intellectual richness) and guard against any outside interference, and if that don’t work “Off with their heads!” . On a final note, let’s talk about blindfolds and Tarot. In esoteric sense, it often represents sacred Initiation. The Initiate moves through her experience and removes the blindfold to see the world through new set of eyes. It’s about freeing yourself from illusions, once the deeper occult knowledge is received. The swords no longer form a prison around the consciousness. But a sword is a sword is a sword. Maybe I got it all wrong, and the way to be the highest expression of my inner light is to interfere with others, and “imprison” them? Day 25 / Inner Light Challenge: Which area of my life is challenging me to “play bigger”? OMAEL as the Ace of Wands appears, again, and just like on day 9 is here to discuss my limits and how to play bigger. I’ve already talked about this card, and how it represents the essence of the element of Fire, and “is the primordial Energy of the Divine manifesting in Matter.” It is basically strength, vigor, rush and energy in action. Energy in action. That’s something I struggle with, I’ll admit. My intellectual mind likes to take its time, methodically and slowly willing things into action. The Ace of Wands seems too scattered for my tastes, bursting with energy in every direction. Yes, I definitely have resistance here. And apparently this is a “call to action” in overcoming it. . Omael is the angel of multiplication. He is taking care of the materialization, development and expansion. And, as I’ve said before, these are things I am not really interested in... I’d rather sit in my armchair, high up in my Ivory Tower, and not really engage in “materializing”. These days I’m more interested in theory and not so much in practice. Which is why I rarely do actual spell-work for influencing the physical world around me. Over the years I’ve become very good at accepting the process, and allowing it to unfold before me as it may. Or not. I’ve learned to look for synchronicities and symbols to guide me. I’ve disengaged from actively pursuing anything. Indeed, I’ve had the luxury to do that, and spent the past few years living comfortably like a hermit. But maybe it’s time to once again focus on active manipulation into action of things I desire? Upon further reflection, I am told that the angel Omael offers you the ability to grow and propagate what you set your hand to. Hmm, a journey starts with a single step. Day 27 / Inner Light Challenge: Which area of my life needs more self-compassion? Well, I honestly did not expect this one. Again. Yes, it’s the 10 of Swords and LOUIAH here, again, to teach me self-compassion. Intellectually I can understand what it’s about, but the part where I am asked to feel and be present for it to occur, is foreign to me. Feelings shimilings, who needs them when I have a brilliant mind - that’s my usual attitude when it comes to such things. But, I know what this is about. I’m very self-aware, and can usually tell what’s being asked of me. So, be it. . Without going into too much detail, or any, here is what’s up. For me, this card is referencing my Path and my Spirituality, and heralds the end of delusions. In the Thoth system, the design of the card is the Tree of Life on which the swords are arranged, the center one is the heart or sun which is broken in fragments. The mind has let go all control and whirls in tormented madness. In the Angel-Evoking Tarot, the depiction reminds me of the Ophanim or the “many-eyed ones” from The Books of Enoch, among other sources. Whatever has come to past, it’s done. Now, it’s time to pick up the pieces and mend them back together, knowingly that the original perspective has changed. And, knowing now what I know, having many eyes to see, can never be the same again. Revelation. The Inner Light Challenge was more difficult than I anticipated it to be. I knew going into it what to expect, based on the prompts, but I did not think that the Angel cards were going to demand so much of my energy. Or that the #innerlightchallenge would at times get so “dark”. In my experience, the Demon deck is more easy going... Oh, the irony. It will take some time for me to assimilate all of the illuminating realizations. A much deeper understanding indeed. Thank you again to @purefield.healing for creating this wonderful challenge, I’m so glad I worked my way through it. Although, I’ll admit there was a time or two where I thought of quitting. Especially after the 10 of Swords kept showing up, time and time again. But, because of it, I’m now very familiar with its meanings and how they apply to me.
