#thevintagefashionchallenge begins its last week with the prompt “play it again “ and I’m revisiting ‘details’ from day 17 and a few years ago, by having a picture of me today wearing the very first vintage item I purchased, with the intention of wearing vintage clothes as a staple of my wardrobe. This 1960s dress had all the details, the neckline, the print, the colour and the quirky little fake belt to make me realise how I could dress differently from what high streets were offering. Since then I’ve come to find my comfort zone in 1950s styles but I still give her an outing now and then. #1960s #1960sdress #groovy

Day 23 of #thevintagefashionchallenge . Shopping! I’m very lucky to live in an area abundant in good vintage fairs and dealers,many from whom I’ve bought and some who have bricks and mortar shops. Indeed within an hour of my home (or attending fairs within an hour)are - @appletreevintage , @astraantiques , @ladypeacockvhq , @eleganteravintage , @myvintagebeau , @thequeensdrawers @revelation_vintage , @revival4vintage @missbricabracvintage @roseandbrownvintage @heritagereloved @enidbrownvintage for home wares and hugs @freshmansvintagestore , who are the Sheffield 2019 Independent retailer of the year. On top of this, the annual shopfest which is @thefestivalofvintage is also only an hour away. People who follow me regularly will already know that I love to shop at @moochvintage, my go to shop for 1950s dresses, lovely chat and occasionally a shoulder to cry on. I’ve been a regular visitor here since they traded from a smaller shop, close to it’s current location and now their fantastic team know the kind of things I’m likely to buy.

Unfortunately this week I’ve found it difficult to keep up with #thevintagefashionchallenge so it’s ironic that today the prompt is reading and research. The reason for me saying this, is that today my reading experience has been improved because I collected my "new to me" @1950s prescription spectacles from @retro_spectacle_ . As you can see they are frameless bottoms and have jewel inserts across the top and along the arms, and I’m very pleased with them.So tonight I tested them on "Fashion in the 1950s" by Daniel Milford-Cottam and a couple of 1950s french fashion magazines. #vintagespectacles #vintagedress #seemesparkle

My closet staple for the #thevintagefashionchallenge is Bakelite. I don’t really have any regular clothing staples but I love Bakelite bangles and earrings. They have been pretty consistent in my outfits for the past 10 years or so. #thedailybake #bakelitebangles #brighterbakelite
