Most people like to believe that motivation is what they need to reach their fitness goal.⁣ ⁣ While that can definitely help, motivation is a fleeting emotion you can’t always never rely on. Instead, you have to find ways to make fitness a habit. Because when it comes to getting results, consistency is the name of the game.⁣ ⁣ Here are some ways to stay on track with your workouts.⁣ ⁣ Unless you’re training for a specific sport or event, pretty much any exercise you do is beneficial. Choosing the one you enjoy makea you more likely to do it.⁣ ⁣ One way to feel frustrated or give up all together is choosing a program that requires too much of a time commitment. Start with one you know you can commit to. Fewer, shorter workouts done consistently is better than trying to follow a program that doesn’t fit your schedule and makes you skip all together.⁣ ⁣ Set small goals for yourself. Whether that’s the number of days you will get to the gym, or how many steps you will get every day.⁣ ⁣ If you have a hard time getting to the gym on your own, try working out with a friend. You will be more accountable knowing someone is waiting for you. And it can help push you harder.⁣ ⁣ Similar to working out with friend, joining a gym that has a community feel can give you something to look forward to and will give you the support and encouragement you need when you want to give up.⁣ ⁣ Reward yourself for showing up consistently. Get a massage, a pedicure, a kitchen gadget for prepping healthy meals, or a new outfit.⁣ ⁣ Track your progress to keep you encouraged. Keep a log of how much weight your lifting and try to beat your previous performance. Take measurements and progress pics so you can see your hard work paying off. And celebrate yourself for all of your progress.⁣ ⁣ You might not feel motivated in the moment, but think about how good you will feel after you’re done. I can’t say I’ve ever regretted a workout.⁣ ⁣ Taking a few rest days during the week is necessary for recovery and helps prevent mental burnout.
