I’m going to tell a hard truth here and share that my hands-on experience of user stories, is, simply put, generally that of loooong ... drawn .... out .... pain. ... It starts with translating our rich, exciting, visual, tangible capture into this ... monotonous ... dry ... repetitive formula, and, I have this sinking feeling that no one is going to read them. ☠️☠️ ... Next, I’m in the middle of some bizarre pass the requirements writing hot potato that no-one wants to own. ... Yup, the tech / dev team won’t touch the user stories until they’ve got requirements attached. Whaddaya know? ‍♀️ ... Found out today that user stories are what they were always meant to be ... stories! Well, well, well ... ... Stories waiting to be told, that are meant to be verbally communicated, that are there to engage, and to promote conversation, and dialogue, and empathy in the team. Who would have thought? ‍♀️ ... Is it seriously possible? Seriously? That I’ve never been in a team that’s done this? Well I got news for you. The buck stops here. Get ready for a story next time folks. ‍♀️ ...
